I am getting worried. Its been a week and my body has not entered Ketosis. I've been drinking water I'm just not sure if it is enough and if that can affect Ketosis. Any suggestions or Ideas as to what may be stalling Ketosis and how I may be able to get myself into it... Like eat specific foods or something.. Thanks in advance. Im trying very hard to not cheat/break this diet and so far I haven't.

Re: Need Help on Induction
Eggs/Bacon Bottle of water for Breakfast
Turkey Slices w/ cheese in a Flat Out Whole Grain Wrap (Total carbs 7-9) Bottle of water
Steak or Chicken with a small salad (2g carbs) and Creamy Italian Dressing 1tbsp (2g Carbs)
I rotate the above menu and I also have tuna instead sometimes. My $$ is limited.
Note: I do drink Caffeine Free Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Sprite Zero and I limit that to 1 maybe 2 max a day.
Edit: I read the link above about the signs of Ketosis. Sadly I have none. I have to force myself to drink water and I feel tired most of the day.

Re: Need Help on Induction
Grains of any kind are not allowed on induction. Do you have a wrap every day? I would think that's why you aren't in ketosis. Did you read the sticky on induction acceptable foods? If you follow that then you should get into ketosis within 2 days.Female, 46yrs, 5'3"

Re: Need Help on Induction
Sorry, but the whole grain wrap is not allowed on induction.
How much salad are you eating -- cup wise? We are limited to either 3 cups of salad veggies a day or 2 cups salad veggies and 1 cup of the other veggies. Also, you shouldn't eat all of your veggies in one meal -- you should spread it out a bit.
What kind of dressing are you using? What are the ingredients?
You know this, but water is extremely important.

Re: Need Help on Induction
Have you read Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002? We go by his rules on this forum, and he laid out a very detailed list of the foods you are allowed on induction.
Check the ingredients of anyhting you are going to eat with that list (chapter 11)
Page 122 gives the basic rules to follow and pages 124-129 gives the complete list of induction-legal foods.
Whole grains are not allowed till you are at the very end of the second stage of Atkins OWL (ongoing weight loss) when you can reintroduce 5 net carbs of whole grains to see how your body copes with them.
So drop those wraps and see how you get on.
Also - where are your 3 cups of veggies?? You need to spread them out through the day to even any sugar spikes. Maybe some mushrooms with breakfast, and some peppers and cucumbers with the turkey slices?
Make sure your soft drinks are sweetened with one of the allowed sweeteners (in the allowed list) and count one carb for each serving of that.
I think you are tired because you are not eating enough vegetables!! Are you taking the recommended multivitamin??Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Need Help on Induction
I think I may need to go back and read through the book again. Sometimes I don't pick things up the first time around
. Unfortunately I have the older version of the Dr. Atkins NDR. Says its from 1992 but I will read thru and check out the rules again. I really appreciate all your help. I've trashed the wraps and will spread out the veggies throughout the day. Gonna drop the dressing. I am taking a Multi-vitamin.
Should I go out and get the 2002 version of the book or is it more or less the same?
Last question (hope I'm not nagging) At the store I saw the Atkins Advantage shakes. Are those OK to drink? It has a note on the back that says that the product is appropriate for induction. Just wanted to make sure from others personal experiences.

Re: Need Help on Induction
Definately get the 2002 version. Don't use the shakes. After Dr. Atkins passed away greedy corporate snakes took over his company and used his good name to market a bunch of useless products that in no way reflect the instructions he gave. Stick to the book. It is extremely important to eat everything you are supposed to eat and not try to fake your way through it. Yeah, it takes some effort, but it is worth it. Make sure you never go hungry. And good luck.

Why are you throwing away the salad dressing? What kind are you using? Remember, you need to eat some fat when you are eating your veggies.Started 4/18/04

Till then go to the FAQ forum here and print out 2 of them
The Rules of induction
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6782
The list of allowed foods
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781
Whatever the Atkins company says about what stage of Atkins their products are designed for, the shakes and the bars are according to Dr Atkins 'for emergencies only' not a daily menu item.
Also most of the bars have ingredients in them that are not on the allowed list of foods, so are not induction-legal.
There used to be a page on the Atkins company website telling enquirers that their products 'may' cause weightloss stalls and if you were experiencing this you ought to drop them from your menus.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
