  • Feeling Down... need some pick-me-ups...

I did great week one, lost 5lbs, and woke up today without the energy I had before(last week). I didn't cheat, I drink over 80oz water and I am begining to HATE my scale... I have willpower (didn't eat the banana choc chip muffins I made for church, or the fried chicken, hushpuppies, mac-n cheese, and potatoes I made after that, nor did I eat the tacos nachos and brownies at supper last night as I handed them out to the youth at church.) But... I can't control myself and that scale... I weigh every a.m. (nekid I live in the south we say nekid ) and as of last thursday nothin nada zip zero zilch. I must be in ketosis cause I am peeing brownish red. I workout 1 1/2 hrs -2hrs per day m-f...

    Typical day menu is:
Breakfast: 2 eggs (fried is only way I don't gag) 3 peices bacon 24oz water
    Workout: 24oz water
Lunch: 1/2 lb of beef (burger) 1 oz cheddar mustard 1/2 red pepper 1/2 cucumber (no peel seeds out) and ranch to dip (regular ranch) 24oz water
Snack: celery with 1 oz cream cheese 24oz water
Supper: 4oz pork loin 1/2 cup broccoli with a bit of cheddar on top 24oz water
Watching t.v with DH: 24oz water before bed

I can't sleep... wake up about 2-4:30 everynight now... and have NO support for this WOE... DH wants me to feel good again after baby, but would like me to reduce Calories and fat and just eat "regular"... sigh... I am commited but need to have some encouragement...

good cause that is not a good color on any urine testing charts unless you had a whole bunch of rhubard.

Oh and I forgot great job on the will power resisting all those foods.

Your pee shouldn't be that color!! Usually, people in ketosis has a light-greenish tint to it or it's very clear because of the amount of water being consumed. Are you drinking enough water???

Also, don't get yourself down about the scale! I've been in ADBB Boot Camp the last two weeks with a very clean induction. I haven't lost any weight, but I've lost 11 inches!!! Here's a link to my stats page so you can see where I've lost it. biogeek's after BC stats

Get your measuring tape & measure yourself. It is a better indicator than that scale ever was. Once the inches starts coming off, the weight will soon follow.

Have some faith! This WOL does work!

Re: Feeling Down... need some pick-me-ups...

You drop your scale addiction the same way you drop your carb addiction.

We don't need to eat excessive carbs anymore.
We don't need to get on the scale and obsess anymore.
                Why? Because we love ourself.

It is time to give up masochistic rituals and behaviors
that fill us with doubt and destroy our esteem.

It is time to forge a new relationship with our body,
                one based on mutual respect.

Our body needs time to make changes without us pressuring it to do it instantly. It needs our
                cooperation and support and respect.

Just as it has always given it to us - despite the way we may have abused it.

                Pure and simple.

I have some tough love for you.
You need to change your lifestyle. Its time to stop cooking
all that carbage, even if you do tell yourself it is for a good cause.

You need to be your foremost good cause. You need to
be your number one charity. You need to come before all others.

Believe me, this is not selfishness. Loving yourself enough to take a stand about what is right for you is the best way to serve others.

And saying we can't change our cooking, in 2006 simply won't fly. There are many gourmet cooks who have adopted to the Atkins lifestyle. If they can do it, we can too.

God, the ADBB, the 2002 DANDR, and your own sweet self,
are your support for this WOL.

What has eating and cooking all those carbs ever done for you anyway?

                Celebrate change!
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle

Please let us know what your doctor says, ok?

The most common question we get about pee is "Why is my pee neon yellow?" and that's because of the B-vitamins in supplements.
If anything, our pee is almost colourless due to the water we all drink. Ketones don't have a colour.

Hello all, Thank you so much for the concern, I have a kidney infection and am now on medication to help. My doc said no connection to this WOE and I am good to go. I have had a sick little one the past few days and no time to get on to reply... Thanks again!

Thank you for updating us. I am glad your doctor was able to spot the infection and start getting you better

I hope your little one is getting better too.

What a cute family you have - is that 2 sets of twins?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

glad you went to see your doc. Now you are good to go with Atkins. whike you are taking your antibiotics know that many of them cause fluid retention cause of the sodium in them. Once you get off them you get a nice whooshie.

It just goes to show we mustn't assume that body changes like urine colour (or tummy pains) are always due to Atkins but check with the professionals for other things like infections or gallstones etc.

I am so glad you went and caught it before it became much worse. A lesson to us all!!
