  • Am I not eating enough?

I'm on day four and have lost three pounds. The problem is that I lost the three pounds on day two. I was looking at my fitday food journal and was wondering if maybe I wasn't eating enough. I've been eating something every 6 hours, but I'm not hungry, so it's small. For example, yesterday was:

    10AM: 3 boiled eggs
3PM: Roasted chicken breast with a diet coke (yea, Splenda!)
4PM: 3tbsp heavy cream whipped with 1 equal
    9PM: 1oz mozzerella cheese

I'm not hungry at all anymore and almost gag when I eat (except the whipped cream.) My friend said I should be eating more, but DANDR says only to eat until you're full.

Also, I've been drinking 104oz of water a day.

You eat the amount that satisfies your hunger. If your hunger is satisfied with 2 boiled eggs, then that is what you eat.

I see that you aren't eating any vegetables. On Atkins Induction, we eat 3 cups of vegetables daily. the majority of our daily carbs are to come from the vegetables we eat. If you don't know which vegetables are allowed, please, click the "FAQ" option on the above menu and read the thread concerning the foods list and the Rules of Induction.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I didn't eat any veggies because I drank the diet coke and had the equal in the whipped cream.

I was confused on the phrasing. In DANDR he says "you CAN have up to three cups per day." Does that mean that I'm supposed to have three cups or is it optional. I'm not the biggest veggie fan and mushrooms are the only thing on the list I'll eat.

      Sorry if I'm being dense.

You do need the vegetables or you will be having problems in the 'potty' department!!

Not only that but the first level of the next phase of Atkins (ongoing weightloss) is to add 5 net carbs more of the vegetable list!!

So you need to look again at the list of allowed vegetables and start experimenting with some you havent eaten yet!!

You might be surprised by finding you actually like some of them if you eat them raw instead of cooked, or cook things most people would normally eat raw.

For example my husband told me he hated mushrooms which his Mum always served cooked to death - but when I first started making meals for him I prepared them the way my Mum had - she always sliced the mushrooms into salads to eat raw.

There are literally hundreds of recipes around on the internet - do a search for the name of a vegetable plus the word 'recipe' and see what you can discover. If you find a good one dont forget to tell us about it so we can try it too!!

Now he loves raw mushrooms and would munch his way through a whole pack of them if he could!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Funny thing you mentioning that, My fiance was telling me how she hated squash growing up, well I said, let me fix it for you. Now she is a squash fan.

Veggies are definitely important because they are full of good soluble fiber mixed with nice vitamins. Especially the dark green kind such as Broccoli or spinach.
