  • Subway Salads???

    Hey everyone,
So my husband and me just went to subway, and the only thing that I thought that I could get was the club salad, and so that is what I got. It said that it had 9 net carbs. But if I were at home, I would put the same thing in the salad, so is it okay for me to eat this? Is it going to stall my weight loss?? How often can I eat these? Thanks everyone

    Re: Subway salads??

The thing I don't like about subway salads is they are made with lunchmeat. It's hard to say if the meat has artificial sugars. Lunchmeat is tricky.

      What's in the salads?

Are these ingredients on the Induction Acceptable Foods list?

How much of these ingredients are in the salads and are they in the acceptable amounts for Induction?

I had gone to subway also and ordered the baby spinach and grilled chicken salad. I also had them put bacon, a little purple inoin and a little cheese with ranch dressing. It was really good.

I eat at Subway often. I got a Subway nutritional booklet that includes carb counts and calories, pretty much everything, all on the Subway ingredients. I would ask if they have this little brochure handy so you can check it. You'd be surprised what you can eat there, I think.

Got it right out of a little pile of them in the Subway I frequent.

You can specify exactly what you want in your salad. Order a veggie salad and have meat put in extra. I usually have bacon put in and grilled chicken. I also plan that a salad is going to last me two days as they are really too big to have all in one meal. or even in one day. I learned to do this when I was working at Subway, a very experienced Atkineer came in and ordered this way.

                  Re: Subway Salads???

Just a note about Subway. I worked for one of the poultry companies that supplied their grilled chicken. At the time, it was not grilled chicken breast, but actually formed product. That means one big chicken nugget without the breading. Now I don't know if the menu now actually says "grilled chicken breast" which is an actual chicken breast or "grilled chicken" which is ground up chicken, fat, egg, sugar, lecithin, and other binder/flavor ingredients that is squirted through a huge playdoh press and shaped into a chicken breast shape. Those grill marks are made by a huge rotating spring that is red hot. It rolls over the patties after they come out of a steam oven.

I'm not knocking Subway in any way. Just wanted everyone to be aware that grilled chicken and grilled chicken breast are not the same thing. Their menu may have changed in the 2 years since I left this company and moved to Germany.

I've wondered about their chicken too. I eat their salads all the time, but I only have veggies and cheese.

                      Re: Subway Salads???

I really like subway salads I get all the great vegies and I get BMT meat which is pepperoni, salami and ham...I eat this with mayo and vinegar and oil and pepper. Tastes just like my favorite sub from high carb days. I just keep in mind that the lunch meat and all the vegies make this a higher carb meal and try to have something lower carb for dinner. Also the sodium may give temp water gain for me so I try to drink extra water.

I agree that my salad is quite large..really too much for one meal so saving the rest for next day is an excellent idea and $$$ saving too. I would probably just get the dressing or mayo or vinegar and oil on the side so that the salad that you saved for the next day wouldn't get too soggy.

Next time I go to Subway I am going to do this...2 meals for the price of one...great idea

if you got the standard club you got
Subway Club®: Roast beef, turkey, ham, chopped lettuce, baby spinach, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, olives and carrots.
there net carb count is for just that without dressing nor croutons. you can ask them to leave stuff off like carrots which are not allowed and you can leave off some of the onions which can be quite carby too even if they are allowed.

You can check any fast food place out at their website here is the ingredients
