  • Scallops

I bought some scallops the other day. I assumed because they were fish they were low carb. To my shock when i put the scallops on fitday it said 14 grams of carbs!!!!!!!! Im on my 3rd week of induction and have only lost 6lbs this is the only time ive cheated although it be unknowingly im still at 23 net carbs for the day but why do scallops have so many carbs? Is this common among shellfish?

    Re: Scallops

i believe i read somewhere that the only shellfish that is pretty much carb free is crab. oysters are apparently the worst.

      Re: Scallops

If you reread the list of acceptable foods for induction (http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781) you will notice this footnote
*Oysters and mussels are higher in carbs than other shellfish, so limit them to four ounces per day.
Scallops are the same kind of 'fish' as oysters and mussels - as are also cockles - so should be treated the same.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Just to add this - try to get into the habit of checking for carb counts before you buy food if possible - and definitely before you eat it!!
