  • Today was a VERY hard day!

(Actually yesterday, but I love to burn the midnight oil, so I am always up until tomarrow...LOL)
So my husband and I got invited to my little cousins birthday parties. We showed up considerably LATE, which was my intention. I was hoping the Cake and Ice Cream would be over with. We walked in on the middle of the serving. OH NO!
My cousin sayd, did you eat lunch? (Ummm no, we got busy doing the necessary dog stuff and forgot) he said there is a HUGE Pot of Chili, help yourself. Without much thinking I said No Thanks (oh but my mind was thinking OH Chili, my FAV!) I said sorry it isn't on the diet. Meeanwhile they are serving up some chocolate cake with colorful frosting and your choice of Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream. Ohhhhhhhh How I wanted to have a small taste of any of it. It just KILLED me to walk away. Esp since I decided I was a bit hungry and had forgotten to eat. After the food was picked up they opened gifts. Then everyone was ready to start eating more chili, chips laying everywhere, dips, crackers. I looked at my husband and said are you hungry, he said yes, I said ME TOO. I asked him to drive the 7 miles to our house and get the Egg, Sausage and Cheese cassarole I had made a couple of days earlier. So thats what he did and we ate a plate full of that. I had taken 4 bottles of water with me and my glass of Tea. So I drank my tea and a bottle of water. He drank 2 bottles of water and in a couple of hours we came home. I feel guitly for only eating ONE meal today, but I wasn't really hungry. I snacked on about 3 pepperoni slices while I was packaging up individual bags for the freezer since we had been to Sams club and bought a lot of bulk items. We started induction last Monday, 2/6/2006. and we made it over a HUGE hump today. Just saying NO to those CARBS!
Thanks for listening. 6 days down and NO Cheating!

woo hoo for you getting throught that.

You need to make an Atkins emergency kit and keep it where you are so you never get in that situation again. many inductees use cans or pouchs of tuna or chicken and packets of mayo in there kits along with water bottles.
here is a topic about all the stuff you can put in there to assist you with everything you can come up agaisnt in the way of an emergency dealing with your Atkins

Way to go Roman! Good job on resisting the bad carbs. I usually keep string cheese and hard boiled eggs and cut up veggies in my fridge at all times. If I'm not sure I'll get a chance to eat I'll grab something from the fridge just in case. Good thing you had that yummy casserole to fall back on.

I keep a can of salmon here at work so if the unthinkable happens and I forget to bring my lunch there is something here. You could keep a can of tuna or something in the car, at least youd have something if such a situation arises again. And most people have a couple of vegies you could eat in their crisper.
A big round of applause for resisting and coping so well.
