My sweet tooth just wont go away
I keep eating an egg or some sort of veggie or meat...but Im craving sweets sooooo bad. Its been a really rough weekend for me ( being that this is my first one on atkins ) and im dying here!!! The only thing that is getting me through it is Aquafina FlavorSplash water, but I can only have like one of those a day.

Eat something fatty to help with that craving, like a bit of cheese. I fought my cravings the first time with L-glutamine tablets also. You can get those at any health food store, and most likely Walmart type stores or maybe even a drug store. You can take one any time a craving hits you! Saved my butt many a time.

Just be aware that even the Atkins diet shakes and bars have been known to stall a lot of people. It's recommended that you not use those things, and instead train your body and mind to not crave those sweets, so that the habit is well on its way to being gone when you get further along to OWL and the other phases, when cravings creep back in at times. You don't want to still have the habit of feeding the sweet tooth, it will be much harder to control then. A fat snack such as cheese really does help. A couple of times when I've been climbing the walls I've had a spoonful of cream - just straight out of the jar. Evil, but better than sweets. The cravings will go, just be strong.Odille

Ohhhhhh, you know what else I do? Find something to do for 30 minutes. I think somewhere I read (and it works for me) that cravings are short lived little monsters that hate it when you put your mind to something else, so much that they stop tormenting you for a while. Get some books from the library, rent a good movie, go wash something! Take a nice bath and relax, write a letter to someone you haven't seen in a while. Just make yourself wait a bit, and it will ease up and you'll get your strength back!

It really does get easier, but it can take some time. We had many a cranky evening here in my house as I went through mourning my 'treats'. But I hung in there and was stubborn..grrrrr
and got through it.
I used to have a major sweet tooth and now, when I do make myself an Atkins friendly treat, I quite often forget I have it in the house. I enjoy the things I can have, but they don't rule my life like they used to.
Stay strong, keep thinking about where you'll be this time next year, and how this'll all be a memory for you by then.

Really??? I havent noticed any stall in my weight loss using the shakes.
I am not a big breakfast person and it helps me get something in my belly in the am
Otherwise i dont eat......i know i should but when you have to be at work at 7 its hard!

I found something on Linda's Low Carb Menu site (http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/crea...ped_cream.html) that cured my sweet tooth. It's so rich you can only eat just a little bit.
My husband went nuts over it too. I thought he was going to run me over to get to the bowl after I let him taste the mixer beaters
