  • I Need Help Losing Confidence

    HI GUYS, I WAS ON ATKINS FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER AND LOST 5 STONES AND I WAS SOOOOO HAPPY, THEN I CAME BACK TO UNIVERSITY AND STAYED ON THE PLAN FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS (NO EXERCISE AND DIDN'T DRINK MY REQUIRED AMOUNT OF WATER THOUGH) THEN AROUND CHRISTMAS I JUST FELL OFF THE WAGON COMPLETELY.

    NOW I HAVEN'T REALLY PUT THAT MUCH WEIGHT BACK ON PROBABLY ABOUT 6 POUNDS, THE WEIGHT IS NOT WHATS REALLY CONCERNING ME. WHAT IS CONCERNING ME IS THE FACT THAT I CAN'T SEEM TO GET STARTED AGAIN, IT SEEMS HARDER THAN EVER NOW. EVERYDAY I KEEP SAYING I'M GOING TO START AGAIN AND DO IT THIS TIME, THEN I GET MAJOR CRAVINGS FOR CHOCOLATE BISCUITS AND I KEEP GIVING IN. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS DURING THE SUMMER I WAS WORKING OUT TO TAE BO 3 TIMES A DAY AND DOING WEIGHTS AND FEELING FINE NO CRAVINGS AT ALL AND NOW I CAN'T GO A DAY WITHOUT GIVING IN TO THEM, I FEEL SO DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF.

    DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY WORDS OF CONFIDENCE TO HELP ME I'M REALLY FLOUNDERING HERE. I STILL HAVE ABOUT 5 STONES TO LOSE TILL I'M AT MY GOAL WEIGHT BUT IT SEEMS SO FAR AWAY. AND I FEEL LIKE I'M SO FAR AWAY FROMT THAT PERSON I WAS IN THE SUMMER.

    First off, do you have the book? If you do, great.

    Now, you need to get your kitchen or whatever it is you have handy ready. Get RID of the foods you can't have on induction if it's just you there. Buy the things on the induction food list that you know you'll eat. Include in that list WATER, unless you can drink what's from the tap where you are safely. Get a large container, or keep a 20 oz bottle handy for refilling. If you can, buy a 32 oz cup or mug somewhere to drink from. Keep it full, and keep it close. Get some L-glutamin. Take it in the morning, night, and any time you feel a craving coming on and drink that water! Exercise, exercise, water and more water! Get it in, especially when you are craving. And most of all, number one..

    WANT IT BAD ENOUGH!

      I have the book and the UK equivalent of the recommended vitamins and minerals i want it bad i just feel so disheartened by the stuttering starts i'm making right now.

        Then prepare your house also, or wherever you live, it will make it much easier if you and your quarters are ready to get started. Don't get disheartened, get motivated!

          I'll let you in on a little secret. I too had many false starts before I truly came back for the second time. What motivated me was seeing my overweight mother in the mirror when I looked into it one morning, and finally realizing.. I didn't want to be her. I wanted to be me, and for much longer than eating like I was eating was going to allow me to.

            Where are you getting the chocolate biscuits?? GET RID OF THEM. GET RID OF THE INGREDIENTS. GOT A RIVER NEARBY? DROWN 'EM!

            The only sure way to slay the sugar demon is to starve it to death. Until you stop (DEAD STOP) giving in to the cravings, they will keep their stranglehold on you. Sorry to say, NO ONE IS EVER CURED....this is a daily recommitment.

            Come on, you can do it.

              You've lost so much already. You CAN do it. Cleanse the house and kitchen, and keep telling yourself I WILL! And before you know it those other 80 lbs will be gone too.

                I see five things you need to do immediately.

                One:
                You are starving for emotional support my friend. You need some serious Atkineer buddies. Choose a couple of forums and make yourself an obnoxious visible prescence there. Post every single day; no exceptions.

                Be accountable. Talk about what you are doing with your food everyday. Contact people who are dedicated and ask them to help keep you stay focused. Find people in your local area who are also Atkineers and make friends with them. Reach out!

                Two:
                Dejunk your living space of all foods that are not 100% induction friendly. No excuses. Decide right now what induction friendly food you are going to eat instead of chockolate biscuits. Make a habit of it.

                Three:
                Eat more. If you are full all the time on the food you are supposed to be eating, there won't be room for junk. This is a key component to sticking to your Atkins WOL.

                Four:
                Feeling disappointed with yourself, all of that guilt, will NOT empower you. In fact, it will keep you cheating. Here and now answer this question - do you love yourself? Remind yourself in every moment of the day that you love yourself enough to eat healthy and drink water. Tell yourself - and I mean this literally "I do this because I love myself..."

                Five:
                Re-read all the stickies in this forum.

                You are not far away from the person that you were and you are not floundering. You are merely one bite away from a clean induction and you already know how to do it. Buck up me-hearty. You can do this!

                    Hey there fellow UK Atkineer!!! You can do this!

                    I am cheating today as it's Valentines, and then I am back on the wagon and very strict induction til I lose another dress size!!!

                    I can talk on weekdays, as I don't have a pc at home....we can support each other if you'd like?

                    We can both do this. I know I can get back on this, and against the advice here, if I don't let myself cheat once in a while (and I mean a long while) I know I'll get on a binge and wont stop. So my next task after tonight is to go cheat free until Easter, when I am allowing myself a small Easter Egg.....after Easter my next target is my birthday in July, when I will allow myself a little piece of birthday cake!....That way, I have something to look forward too.

                    I know it's tough, but you had the willpower and the determination to start this WOE in the first place and you know that same determination is still in you......COME ON!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

                      Thanks you guys i really needed that, i'm glad to say i'm back on the wagon for good now and i have totally thrown out all the chocolate, cakes, biscuits and crisps. It felt so cleansing just throwing them away.

                        Good for you!!! After a while you won't even crave that junk!! I have kids in my house, so I can't get rid of the junk!! There is a huge plate of Valentine's cookies on the table my mother-in-law sent over, and over half the plate is full because the old me isn't there to eat them!!! Last year, I would have sat down with that huge plate and ate and ate and ate until I couldn't stuff one more cookie down my throat! If I can stick to this induction, you can!!!!! Good luck and anytime you feel like cheating and giving in, just come here and post your feelings.
                        What would we do without it?
