  • 14 Days over and little let down

I wanted to post my 2 week induction totals and thoughts. My total loss was 17 lbs. My goal was 20lbs so I am a little off here. The last 4-5 days I seemed to have stopped losing and I am feeling a little bloated. I know this should pass and I should drop some more weight. I have lost some inches and my energy level is way up.
My water intake has been good 128+oz. I have been doing some moderate excercise. I am watching my foods to make sure they are on the induction list. I have to admit I have not been the best at keeping up my fitday. I started Sunday and I am making sure I keep it up now.
My problem now is I wonder if I am eating enough. I have lost my appetite and rarely get hungry. Yesterday my total caloric intake was 1849. When I was filling it out for the day I realized I had only eaten 1394 calories so I had a 455 calorie snack to bump me up. Should I try to eat more? I welcome your comments, reassurances and support.

Congratulations on your 17 lb. loss!! That is tremendous! Most people lose 8-10% of their weight during the 2 week induction period. You are right on track! Whoo Hoo!

I'm glad you're taking your measurements, too. There are times that the scale isn't going to register a loss, but your tape measure will.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Your burst of energy and lack of appetite are the wonderful side effects of ketosis!

You are doing just wonderfully. Keep up the great work!

I think you're doing great too and sounds like you're doing it all right. Look for the 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs on your fitday, and eat when you're hungry. Most people can expect to lose between 5-10% of their total weight loss goal during induction and it looks like you're right in there.

In my opinion, your caloric intake is gonna vary from day to day and with the appetite suppressant we get from this woe, I find that I'm not really hungry. I use fitday and keep an eye on my calories not because I ever eat too much, but I don't want to eat too little for long periods of time. I exercise a lot. I'd say just keep an eye on it but don't worry about it too much. Stick to your Atkins, eat when you're hungry, drink your water, exercise and take your supplements.

17 pounds is awesome! Find something that weighs 17 pounds and carry it around for a while and it'll blow your mind. Remember, whether it's 17, 20 or 2, it's weight that's GONE and that's the important thing.

Great job! 17 pounds is most definately in the 5-10% range for induction loss. the bloated feeling could be you have found a food you don't tolerate. check your food lists for the day before the bloat started and see if you had a new type of food orbrand offood. ifso eliminate it and see if the bloat goes away. if not it could be from a yeast die off thingie. keep eatkingyour Atkins doing your exercise taking your vits drinking your water and you will be a big loser too.

don't eat just to eat remember you got a spare fuel tank that will produce more fuel if you needed it.Use your hunger to tell you if you need food or not. Dr Atkins says when we are not hungry to have a small snack of protein or fat with some of our carbs. Starvation mode takes weeks of not fueling up enough to kick in.

I looked at your fitday, and you are eating an Atkins bar. I don't think that is a good idea because it is not on the induction list and it has 22 grams of carbs. Be careful with that kind of stuff. Besides that, WAY TO GO!!!!! Congratulations!

Yes I did give in and have an Atkins Bar for breakfast. I was on the run and it is not something I will make a habit of. The net carbs is 2g and it says acceptable for Phase I. Still I know they can stall. Below is a prior post about using the bars to your Advantage. I will let you know if it works.

Everything had it's place, I've figured out how to use the bars to my
              ADVANTAGE.

For me & I think most of us, my weight loss is not linear, my cycle is that I stay at the same weight for 7-10 days & then have 2-3 losing days where I drop 2-4 pounds, then come up about a half pound & then sit at the same weight again for another 7-10 days before I lose again.

My biggest problem with this WOE is not constipation per se, I eat the psyllum husks etc & have daily movements but I start to feel clogged up. This is where the bars come in. Eat a couple of those, one in the morning & one at night & boy the next morning you will become completely unclogged.

Yes I never seem to lose weight on bar days, but I use them like 5-6days into my holding pattern for a treat & cleansing & then stop & w/i 2-3 days the old 2 day woosh factor sets in.

I'm fine tuning this stuff all the time, anybody else have same experience as myself?

Re: 14 Days over and little let down

Let down when you have lost 17 pounds? Isn't that a little nuts? Rejoice! Rejoice! When your body settles into permanent ketosis you will experience less of an appetite. It is normal, its a blessing.

You are eating enough if you are eating everything you are supposed to on induction and never going hungry.

Sounds like you have done everything about right except the all important step of loving and praising yourself for all you have accomplished.

Please don't set impossible or unrealistic standards for your body. I think setting a goal of 20 pounds for induction is really stretching it anyway. Let your body do what it wants to do.

Allow your body to set its own time frame for weight loss.

Weight loss will slow down now and it is normal. You will still lose inches and sizes even though the scale moves very slowly. Relax and enjoy your new status as a fat burning wonder.
