  • Question about ketone levels

Hi my name is Brian and I tried atkins and didn't lose any wieght. Then I bought the book and found out I wasn't doing atkins, just some form of torcher to myself. The book has been like a light for me and has helped a lot. But --- I still have some Questions. What is a Good and safe number of ketone to be exspelling the book doesn't say. It just saids burn ketones. I stay Between 40 and 80. Is that ok or should it be Higher. Second if I am burning ketoes is it true I will either have weight loss or inches loss. is it possible to burn ketone and not have any loss? Really want to Know. Thanks. Bmeade8@optonline.net

Re: No loss in the 2nd week?

    Hello Brian
    Welcome to our ADBB family.

Firstly, congratulations on reading DANDR and getting the instructions from the source rather than from someone's friend's mother's hairdresser!!

Any change in colour (I assume that is what the figures 40-80 mean?) means you have excess ketones in your urine.
Read the FAQ on page 143 about the level of ketones being different for all of us.

You can be burning ketones but not losing weight because they could be from the fats you are eating instead of your body fat.
You could be overeating your Atkins and showing ketones but not be losing weight or inches.
Dr Atkins cited an example of someone who was showing readings for ketosis and not losing weight who he discovered was regularly eating a stick of butter (4 ounces) as a snack!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

      Re: Question about ketone levels

follow the plan in DANDR and you will be a loser.
About the ketones every human on earth burns fats and ketones every night while sleeping. the about you are peeong out doesn't correlate to the amount you are burning cause you need excess in your blood not being burnedup inorder to pee any out.

      Happy low carbing
