    Hi Jayjay

    Welcome back to ADBB!

I would suggest printing out the list of allowed foods so you know what is OK to eat and planning your menus around the things on it you like to eat. Treat yourself to good quality meat so your meals feel like an expensive luxury rather than a penance!

Clear the kitchen of bread/cakes/chips if they are your weakness and get lots of tasty snacks prepared for when the 'munchies' rear their heads!

If all you have available to eat when hungry are legal foods you cant go wrong.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Drink lots and lots and lots of water!! It really helps. Be prepared for the Induction flu, it will pass and will feel fantastic once your body get used to this WOE! Good for you for taking this step. Make sure you look at some meal plans to get an idea of what you need to have in the house to eat. Good Luck and Welcome!

Yes, keep your copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution handy and refer to it often. The more educated you are on this, the better you'll do.
There's also a ton of reading on this board in the form of the stickys and the Most Memorable Posts forum and you can find lots and lots of food ideas in the food forums.

DEFINIETLY clear the kitchen of carb rich foods, or if you live someone who's not on Atkins, tell them to hide it! I found it much easier (as difficult as it was) to resist carbs while supermarket shopping, than when they're sitting in the kitchen taunting me.

                    Re: Irish lad starting Induction

Welcome JJ - you have come to the right place!

                    how to stick
The way to stick is to eat, eat, eat. Eat the wonderful wholesome healthy foods on the acceptable foods list and keep yourself full. Never go hungry, never leave the house without food, and have a serious plan in mind for induction friendly snacks.

The way to stick is to substitute healthy food for overprocessed manufactored junk food. I like the most common substitutes but you also work out many of your own. Whatever works. I like jicama for chips, cauliflower for rice and potatos, spaghetti squash for pasta and the mock danish for sweets.

The way to stick is to cook. Get online and familiarize yourself with the recipes on this site and many others; Many gourmet cooks have embraced the Atkins lifestyle and published their recipes.

The way to stick is to get a taste of butter and meat fat and chicken skin in your mouth and on your tongue. This chemical signal tells the body that it is being well fed and it is safe to start releasing unecessary fat stores.

The way to stick is to lubricate your body with lots of water because it has a million uses for this water, especially in the process of ketosis.

The way to stick is to come to the ADBB every single day and familiarize yourself with the before and after pics, the wisdom, the people, the recipes, the stickys, the forums and the volunteer opportunitys. Let the ADBB be your 2nd family.

The way to stick is to never think of your Atkins journey as a diet but as a permanent lifestyle that enhances and enriches your life which I can positively guarentee it will if you follow the rules of induction to the very letter.

The way to stick is to use your tape measure and your decreasing clothing sizes as an indication of your success and not the number on the scale. Atkineers are not scale slaves. Weigh at the very most only once every two weeks. I repeat - this is not a low fat diet. This is not a diet. Its the best way to love yourself that I know.

The way to stick is to keep reminding yourself how much you love yourself every waking moment and that is why you are going to allow your body to do what it was meant to do instead of cramming it overfull with a bunch of useless junk.

The way to stick is to speak kindly to yourself, to have an "I can do" attitude and believe iin yourself because you can. At first you may not believe it, but keep going anyway. In two to three weeks as your body adjusts to ketosis you will find your own desires fall into line with this delightful way of eating.

Take heart! You are in the right place. As an added bonus, men appear to take it off faster than the ladies! I look forward to you sharing your future progress with us.

Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle
