Someone brought brownies to work today. Ooey, gooey, yummy brownies. Those jerks. lol. I walked into the workroom, saw them, salivated for a few seconds, remembered all of you supportive people, then filled up my water glass and walked out. But I think I might just pine about them the rest of the morning... and start making a comprehensive list of fabulous things I'm going to do when I get skinny!!!!

I agree. Whoever did this and those who ate them in front of you need to be punished. If there are stilll any left, I think your signature written on top of them with a ketchup bottle is in order.Originally posted by TabulaRosa84Oh...and by the way, if you want i can come in and break the legs of whoever the brownie perpetrator is. You know ill do it

Re: Avoid....the....brownies!!!!
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I DO!! Matter of fact, after the marathon, of course they were handing out gobs and gobs of honey buns provided by Great Harvest Bread Company .. I walked passed the line of folk waiting for it and said out loud: "why do you think they call them BUNS.." Got a few looks too!

Re: Avoid....the....brownies!!!!
Good job resisting the wanton carbage cassafrass. There will always be moments when we have to choose between "what is easy and what is right"
to borrow from the Harry Potter flick.
It is, unfortuantely, not our place to police the food universe for other people. There will always be occaissions when we are confronted with the demons from our evil past. But it always helps me to remember the body is a machine in these moments.
How well would our lawn mower run on a brownie?
I know in my past, that I would never have been satisfied with one brownie anyway. The carb and sugar addiction would drive me to keep sampling the wares. I'm happy to stay in ketosis and have the pleasure and relief of knowing that for once in my life I control my food choices, they do not control me.
Be sure to keep something tasty that you can have for such emergencies. There is no reason why Atkineers have to deny themselves a treat. In fact there are many foods we can gleefully eat in abundance while others tremble in fear.
This is a good website for learning new low carb recipes. Linda marks the recipes that are okay for induction.
I had a date the other night and my companion was absolutely flabbergasted by my fearless trek into meat fat territory.
He said, how can you eat fat? Isn't that unhealthy? I said read Dr. Atkins book and find out.

Re: Avoid....the....brownies!!!!
Temptations like this can be difficult - especially early on - but once you get going strong and endure a few times like that you will find it is actually very empowering to be the one saying "no I don't care for any." Gives you more self-confidence and strength in fighting any temptations and also I always kinda like being the one strong enough to say no and the compliments that come with it.
I go to lunch with some buddies alot during the week and when a few will be talking about how they need to lose some weight and how crappy they feel and such - then the waitress comes and one by one they just say yeah gimme a coke or sweet tea and such - and then order fries with their food and such.... I love when I am going strong and it doesnt even faze me to say water or unsweet tea and then order something completely good for me. Not that I take pleasure in them not doing well but more in how easy it now is to make the right decision when it used to be so hard.

Re: Avoid....the....brownies!!!!
Well...the way I see it is that I've eaten brownies...I know what they taste like...been there done that, and all it got me was fat and moody. So I'm really not missing out on anything.
They do smell good though, and I've learned to enjoy the smell of something like that, but I know what they will do to my blood sugars and my weight if I eat them.
I can appreciate that there are people in the world whose bodies are capable of handling that sort of food, but my body just isn't built to handle it. They can have their brownies and meanwhile, I'm pretty darn well fed and certainly not starving, so I'm fine going without.
