I have not started Atkins yet but am considering it and just doing some research. I have tried sugarbusters and south beach but just have not been able to stick with them. I think they allow too much carbs for an addict like me. I need to get off sugar, etc completely. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which includes insulin resistance (pre-diabetes), and I have high bp, high cholesterol/triglycerides, tachycardia and other health problems....way too many for a 27 year old.
Anyway, my question is this. I think the only way I will be able to make it through the first week or two is to have a lot of fat. I know Atkins allows fat but I could easily get in 100g of fat or more per day. Is this too much? I would have lots of dressing on my salad, butter on other veggies and meats, the max amount of cheese allowed per day and probably high fat meats as well.
Is this the wrong way to go into this? Do I have the wrong idea here? I notice in some threads that I have read that most people dont really have snacks and I was wondering why? Maybe after getting the sugar and bad carbs out of my system, I won't feel the need for snacks?
I have tried Atkins before but could never make it past the third day (always the worst for me). I would be rolling on the bed crying like an addict in withdrawal...horrible headaches, nausea, dizziness and cloudy-headed, very tired, etc. and would just give up. But, I am really determined to lose this weight and if I am going to do this, I want to do it right. Any suggestions or answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Also, everyone says if you can make past the first 3 days, it gets easier and you dont feel so bad after that...is this true? I was thinking if I started on a Friday, maybe by Monday I would feel better.
TIA
