I dont see any why you cannot bring a bottle of water and explain you are on a special diet and can only drink water.

Great idea! Just grab a bottle of water to go!

gammon is ham? it should be ok as long as it isn't sweetened. I'd think bringing your own water should be ok too. A pub that doesn't serve water? is that a common thing?

          Re: pub lunch

Is that a pub in UK? I have never found any pubs or even cafes that cant sell you water if you ask for it. You will probably have to pay as much for water as you would for alcohol though!! I always ask for sparkling water with ice to make it seem more 'festive' than plain still water.

The gammon may have been cured (or cooked) with sugar, so probably steak would be safer if they cant tell you for sure that the gammon doesn't contain sugar.

I always have a few sachets of mayonnaise that I know has no sugar in it hidden in my handbag for the times when I am really not sure about added sugar etc in dressings. Vinegar mixed with oil is a nice dressing too and most chefs should be happy to let you have some instead of 'suspect dressings' if you ask.

I have always been upfront with serving staff and said 'I am on Atkins and cant eat anything with sugar or starches added' to make sure they serve me something suitable, but if you dont want to use the 'a-word' you could always say you have a food allergy that doesnt allow you to eat them to make sure they serve you what you want!!

Even 'My doctor forbids me to eat sugar and starches' is not a lie, as Dr Atkins was a qualified doctor!!

Or there is always the phrase 'I can't eat that - it brings me out in fat!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
