Sometimes it takes a while for you to see results, even in the beginning. I had a friend who switched to low-carb living but wasn't majorly into junk to begin with. She only lost like 4lbs in the first month but eventually started losing more. I guess sometimes it takes a while, not really sure why. :0 I would suggest sticking with it because your body might really surprise you over the next couple of weeks.

Remember, this is the one time when it's good to have nothing to gain and everything to lose. And you definitely get that with this style of eating. *L*

Re: Day 4 Feel like stopping

It takes time to see results. 4 days isn't even a drop in the lifetime bucket. Like Matt said, what did you expect to see in 4 measley days? You can't find a skincare routine to help clear up a few pimples in that amount of time, but you're expecting to see the fat melt off before your eyes?! C'mon now!

Induction is a two week process, not a 4 day process. During a CLEAN induction period you can reasonably expect to lose 5-10% of the total amount of weight you need to lose - in your case, 1.5-3lbs.

Add the exercise into the equation and you can likely expect to see less that that. Starting up an exercise routine causes your muscles to hyperhydrate. You will retain water while they figure out that this exercise stuff is here to stay. When your body figures out that it's not in a state of emergency, but that these new demands are going to be a regular deal it will release the extra water and whooooooooooooosh.

You will, however, still lose inches even if the scale isn't moving, and that's the important part. I have yet to buy a pair of pants with a weight requirement in them, but they have a waist size requirement. 5lbs won't get you into a smaller size, but an inch off your waist will.

As I've said a million times - it's the instant gratification mindset that got most of us a big butt to begin with. Be patient. This takes time

it's hard to judge yourself....well ok that sounded stupid but u know what i mean

just stick to the plan and keep faith....it's really hard to wait for things to happen TRUST ME...every time i diet or start exercising i keep thinking of my long term goal and a few months in get completely discouraged and give up b.c it seems like soo long till i'll get there....here are some suggestions that have helped me

1)set mini goal and rejoice in those

2)dont' stay on induction for longer than u have to...i find the food choice sooo limiting and such that i'll end up just saying f'it and go all out carb...where as moving on the the different rungs of owl will let u expand ur choices

3)act like you would if u were at your goal right now! go out with friends, be sexy, start working on feeling confident and in controll now....attractiveness and happyness is all about attitude not about weight and looks....i have spent far too long waiting on the sidelines thinking...oh when i am thin i'll be able to this and have fun....well **** that! go out NOW and not only will this get u moving and ur mind off of how much further u have till goal...it will also help u love yourself which is KEY to any weight-loss sucess...

              hope that helps

Re: Day 4 Feel like stopping

Well, I know I've complained a bit because I've failed. However, now that I'm spending time really reading the stories of other's. I am amazed and have more of an idea of WHY I have failed in the past. ONE of the biggest reasons was NOT seeing results as quickly as I want to see them. And, I'm going to work on that. So ... don't you dare quit!! You'll be about a week and a half into induction by the time I start on this coming Monday!!! And ... one thing I do know for a FACT is ... there will be a time, that the weight DOES come off. Be it two pounds or 20 pounds. It DOES come off. . . I'm almost slapping myself in the head because I've ALLOWED myself to quit! This is my "EMPOWERMENT WEEK" ... keep reading. Especially check out the before and after pics!! They are motivating me ... I might not even need to wait to empower myself until this coming Monday!!! DON'T QUIT though! That's more devastating than the scale not moving! TRUST ME!!!!
THIS TIME and for the LAST TIME, I will do this!!

                Female / 36 / Ohio
                Starting Weight: 218 - 3/13/06
                CONTINUING WITH INDUCTION!
Mini Goal: 10 pounds by April 19th! - Nails done for reward.
                GW: 135

1 week to go until my next weigh-in.

Good thinking! Many people find it is better to start induction on the Friday rather than a Monday to allow themselves to control better what they eat and do for the first couple of days.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Maybe you could post your menu so we can see what your eating. Also, I am prime example of slow weight loss..look at my stats. On the other hand, I am watching my husband melt away! He has lost 29lbs already. I am ripping my muscles though <working out> and they hurt. Brook gave a good explanation of what muscles do when you workout.
                      I did it!!

I forget how much I lost on induction the first time,I think 12, but so far i've lost 7.5 lbs in 6 days. Do my clothes fit better, and do I look any different? Hardly!
Last time it took me losing about 25 lbs for me to notice any difference in my clothes or in my face at all. I started off in 16s, lost 32lbs, and ended in loose 14s. Some people can lose 10lbs and go down a size, and im just not one of em! Everyone is different.

Re: Day 4 Feel like stopping

How did such a nice person become such an unreasonable tyrant?
Time and again I see a newbie posting that they have been on Atkins for 4 days and haven’t lost ____ pounds so they are giving up. It is such a tragedy.

We may be nice to our neighbors, devoted to our families, spiritual and pious people. But we are unreasonable tyrants when it comes to our body. No doubt, in an effort to lost weight, you have put your innocent body through ****. I know I did. Always starving and binging. My poor body had no reason to trust me. For this reason my body hunkered down and said “this lady is crazy, I’m not releasing any of my fat stores because heaven knows what awful thing she will do to me next!”

When you start Atkins your body gets very hopeful. “Hey…wow - we have food here. Nutritious food too. Food that doesn’t force me to keep shunting crappy fat all over the place. Neato.. I like this. But hey, how long is she going to keep this up? I better hang on to my fat stores until I know for sure they will continue to be replaced.”

It takes time to build a new relationship with your body.

After all, this engine has been your prisoner for a long time. The engine is waiting to see if you are going to keep giving it steady fuel. It needs your loving patience.

It is not appropriate to tell this body that has served you so long and so well, through all kinds of wacky treatment, that it only has 4 days to meet your egotistical demands for weight loss or you will go back to abusing it again. Let your body relax, be fed, be renewed, do some healing.

Allow your body to set its own time frame for weight loss.

There are lots of exciting processes taking place when you stop filling your tank with carbage and start giving it high grade fuel. Just because you can’t see what your ego has decided is visible evidence of progress, that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Ideally, stick to Atkins for a good 3 to 6 months before forming any conclusions.
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle
