  • 2weeks done.

Well I did it. I did two weeks of induction (actually I did two and a half but I caved at my sons christening). I am down 8 lbs & two inches off my belly. I'm happy for that but I really want to lose more. I guess I will move over to extended induction now. I didn't do a perfect induction-I ate an Atkins bar every day (for lunch- no time to eat), didn't exercise (I have 2 kids under 18 mos-does that count?) & I went out drinking one night (but had low carb drinks). I was really stuck at 170lbs before I sarted Atkins so I'm really glad I decided to try it. I can't wait to continue and lose more! Tell me, do the ladies notice the weight creeping back up before their period?

    Wow, congrats!

Last time I was doing this I always noticed some weight gain from my period, sometimes almost as much as 5lbs, but it always fell right off in a few days. I don't think it's anything to worry about. In fact, I gained water weight around that time of the month even when I wasn't eating low-carb.

That was a great result for a not-very-strict induction, Zelda
Do you intend to keep eating the bars instead of a real meal as you continue? You might get better losses if you can work out a way to pre-prepare something better for lunches! BTW it takes no longer to eat a few ham/cheese rollups and a small salad or some hardboiled eggs or celery and cream cheese or cutup veggies and a dip than it does to eat an Atkins bar!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Elizellen is right; take the time on the weekends or whenever you can spare it, to prepare some quick LEGAL healthy foods .. bars will definitely SLOW your weight loss as will eating off plan.

Decide what you want more: to lose more weight or to keep eating off plan here and there. YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH.

Even a dirty induction is better than no induction at all. I challenge you to try a clean induction though. You will really see some positive results if you do it by the book. I also recommend re-reading all the stickys at the top of this forum.

Weight fluctuation is perfectly normal, especially during your period. Stay away from the scale and rely on your tape measure and the way your clothing is getting looser and looser to keep you motivated.

Good for you, Zelda!!!! Those bars and shakes are junk, and you are worth more than that!!! I lost 14 pounds on a clean Induction, and I didn't miss a thing!!! You can do it, and I can't wait to hear how your clean 2 weeks turn out!!!
What would we do without it?

Wow. Lucky ducky. 8 lbs is amazing. What I would give for an 8 lb loss! Maybe you're one of those people who has a high carb tolerance because for me...those Atkins bars are like a huge STOP sign for my weight. It won't go anywhere on them. Great job!
