  • i am new and i need help please?

    hi all....let me begin by saying..i am new to atkins day 3
    but i am not sure if i am doing it correctly bc
    1. i dont see my self eating all 20 carbs...some days i only have 5!!! will that make the diet not work bc i am not eating all the carbs...

    2. i am also taking a few zantrax 3....will that harm the diet?

    3. i see myself having a change in my menstral cycle like staining a lil early..is that bc i started a new diet maybe? also constepation is not a problem for me at all i am the total opposite!!!

    please help if you can...i need to loose 20 lbs i am 5'1 and i look like a lil butter ball....HELP IF U CAN

      Check all the foods you eat in www.fitday.com That will tell you how many carbs you are eating. There is a board on here for people to go over your menu and see how youre doing. You can put a sample day in with them and they can point you in the right direction.

        Same here.
        Neither do I use all the twenty carbs per day. Sometimes, only five, maybe ten. I don't think it will block up your weight loss. It will speed up your ketosis level.
        The problem is, it's not healthy to consume only 5 carbs, but wait, - if it really helps you to lose faster your weight, then it's good though. Just use supplements and everything will be all right. Probably. You're young, healthy, immune - it won't be a big problem to lose your weight (if you're decisive).

          It's important on this plan to eat all of your alotted 2-3 cups of veggies, and to spread them out throughout the day. Most people think that Atkins is all MEAT, MEAT, MEAT, but its a balance of protein (could be fish, chicken, eggs), healthy fats and veggies. After your two week induction, the plan says the next step is to up your veggies.

          It's important to read the book, because it gives the reasons why veggies are important. The media tends to think of Atkins as only the first 2 weeks of induction, but that's only one phase which is designed to break you of your sweet tooth and carb addictions, to help suppress your hunger from those addictions and to learn how to eat whole foods and not junk. If you do it by the book, you're are probably eating more veggies than the general public.

                o my God, Brittany, I don't know how you can take the zantrax 3. I know everyone is different. For me, It gives me the sharpest stomach pain, and than my palms start to sweat. But the pain in the stomach is so intense, I can not exercise, which i why i was taking them in the first place. Before Atkins ,when i used to go to the gym i used them and i would eat a banana or a cup of yogurt right before the pills. That would help alleviate the pain. Are u taking them to work out? Since you are just starting, I would suggest focusing on a clean induction. Once you have that down, than slowly add the exercise. Leave the pills alone. You may become dependent on them. If you eat the right foods on atkins, the food itself will cause the weight loss. The pills dosent really help. You can do it! oh and dont forget to drink your water!

                  oh i forgot, the xantrex 3 is allllllll caffeine. Dr. Atkins wants us to shake our addiction to sugar, carbs, caffeine etc... no pills

                    I did a Google and found the following (the emphasis in bold is mine). You are trying to cut out caffeine.

                    It is now wonder you cannot get your 20 carbs per day in - this stuff is screwing up your metabolism. My personal advice would be to flush it down the loo and start a new, clean induction. And I would hazard the suggestion that you are going to have a shitter of a withdrawal headache!

                      Great post, Odille!!! Yes, flush those pills and eat your veggies!! You must not be eating your 3 cups of veggies if you are under 5 grams. Do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution?? If not, please get a copy!! You may think you will lose weight faster if you skip the veggies and keep the carbs too low, but it will keep you from losing. This is a way of life, not a diet. Its about losing weight and being healthy. I am so glad you found ADBB! I did a totally clean induction (I quit coffee even!!) and I lost 14 pounds. Please try doing it by the book, its only 2 weeks, but it will convince you that you are on the right path!
