  • Is this allowed?

I love to eat sushi. I was just wondering what is allowed during induction? I know that the rice is not allowed. But what about everything else?

Sashimi (raw fish without the rice) should be OK. Stay away from the candied ginger, but you could use wasabi and soy as a dipping sauce, as long as they don't have added sugar.

Just an FYI...the 'wasabi' used outside of Japan is really plain old horseradish dyed green. So use the carb counts for horseradish for 'wasabi', unless you're in Japan and can get the real stuff.

Also, watch the stuff that uses the imitation crab which is really mostly pollock with added sugars and starches. You typically won't find it as sashimi anyways as it's mostly in rolls, like California rolls.

The nori is fine, raw fish is great, all the veggies are good, its just the rice that gets you. Of couse when you get to the grain stage you can add that back, I tried them with brown rice and I thought they were okay.

Well I went last night for dinner. I think I did good I had the raw fish, which is all I ever ate anyways. I think I might have made one mistake though, I had this one dish it's called a cucmber special. It is made with:
            Tuna
            Avacado
            mayo
            smelt
rolled in thin slices of cucumber
            Does that sound ok?
            Thanks

Looks good to me! Up to half an avocado per day is acceptable for induction. It's a special category food, like olives.
