    Diet sodas

Anyone know why we aren't allowed to have diet sodas with aspartame, such as diet coke? I could have sworn that years ago when I did this diet, (with the old edition of the Atkins book) I was drinking diet sodas with aspartame in them.

    Thanks!

BTW, I just joined a few days ago after struggling on the Fat Flush diet plan and having to cheat because I hated it. My weight stalled on that plan. I've only beeing doing Atkins a few days and have already started losing weight! Yea!!!

It's in DANDR 2002, Chapter 11, Induction Acceptable Foods list:
We discourage the use of aspartame (marketed as NutraSweet and Equal) because of clinical observations that it slows weight loss in certain individuals.

There are many clinical studies on why not to ingest aspartame. It's just nasty. Anyways, one of the studies links actual weight gain with aspartame in some people. That is not in the DANDR, however.

Not only have there been studies, but many of us have found out that diet drinks are just additive and unhealthy. Most of our biggest losers have given them up completely. Glad you found us and joined. Its a great WOE

Can someone answer this for me, please? If I have Diet 7-up with splenda would that be ok to drink during induction? Because sometimes I really want something really cold and water just not cut it.

As long as you also have your 64 ounces plus 8 extra ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose in plain water too!!

And make sure you count the splenda as one carb per serving (the bottle will say how many servings it holds) of your 3 servings a day.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

OH yeah, I know I drink plenty of water. I am drinking at least 6 32oz bottles of water everyday. Ok now the diet 7-up is just one can, so I am asuming that it is one serving. Am I correct in thinking this?
