Hi All, I'm having a problem. I'm currently on day 11 of a really good induction. I have only lost 4 pounds. I'm taking an anti-depressant called Selecsa of citalipram. It made me gain, but I'm on taper now and taking about half of what I took before. My really good induction: every day, my 'pee' sticks are pink (even through a bout of the runs). So does anyone have some words of encouragement here or advice? I'm thinking of moving onto the next level in 3 days because I can't see the logic of staying on induction past the 14 day period, with this medication holding me back. My logic tells me to keep moving through the plan and when I taper more, the plan will kick in. Any comments? Thx so much. PS: this isn't my first time on Atkins by any means, and previous times I lost 5-8 pounds on this wol during induction. BTW: Lent is keeping me honest this time!! thx for any help. cheers, Castoridae

Re: day 11 Advice re prescriptions & weight loss
Hey there....
I started Celexa a month or so ago and I guess it's different with each person because I'm managing to lose while on it.
Go right ahead and move on to OWL if you feel ready for it...that's the beauty of Atkins, you can go at your own pace and progress as you feel comfortable. Remember that you can stay on a rung for a while if you want to, you don't have to power through them all. (I stayed on Rung 1/extra veggies for a few months).
Also check out the Second Time Around Club Forum and talk to the others there about differences in this induction as opposed to previous inductions so you can hear about their experiences.
Hang in there!

Re: day 11 Advice re prescriptions & weight loss
welcome back to ADBB and to Atkins.
They now know that the meds effects and sideeffects like weight gain are determined in each person based on genetics and the type and amount of 43 different liver proteins that you got.
Since you are on the tapered dose you are coming off your meds so the weight gaining caused by them will be aleviated and your Atkins should asssit you with your weight loss.
Moving to OWL is an individual decision and chapter 13 can help anyone decide what to do. Since you want to move to OWL then do it. your Atkins ketosis is already kicking in as you are burning fats for fuel and have lost weight.
The only medical reason to stay on induction longer is if you have high metabolic resistance then eating induction longer will help your body fix the metabolic nonmendical problems you are having. Other stay cause they either fear OWL or they have a lot to lose and want to lose it sooner.

Re: day 11 Advice re prescriptions & weight loss
Hi Moochicat and 2Big!! Thx so much for your replies. I was taking 80 of the celexa and I'm down to 40. I was also up to 500 Seroquel and I'm down to 100 of that. My system has always responded really well on Atkins, but I think the celexa slows down the metabolism. I think I will move up with the extra helpings of veggies. This time around on induction was amazing. No cravings for sweets and no cheating with the Atkins pancakes!! That's why I want to move on. Its all so psychological for me and moving on is a reward in my mind for my good behaviour. I also ate way less fried foods this time. Three soft boiled eggs with butter for brecky, baked ham for lunch. Cheers & Thx. Cast.
