  • Nothing tastes good!

Today is day 4, I made Linda's Taco bake for dinner-everyone liked it but me. I am thinking that it is just me because it looked so good and when I ate it-blahh!
I am sure that this will pass, but I know I havent wanted to eat today at all-which I am thinking that is a good thing, however, I need to eat.

    Any suggestions?

The biggest thing that helped regain some of my appetite was experimenting with spices and fresh vegetables in my cooking. You may have to tweak some of those recipes to your taste buds. They have have gotten more sensitive to some tastes and need to rediscover what they are hungering for. The loss of appetite was startling to me at first too as that was one thing I could always count on in my life. Food = good. Suddenly, it wasn't a sure thing. Keep it up for it does get better.

Thank you Kent! I can tellyou this much I did not eat much at all yesterday. I made some of those Heroin wings this morning, while I ate my breakfeast of 2 boiled eggs. For lunch I plan to have a salad and wings-for dinner I am having one of Linda Sue's recipe Creamy Ham and "potatoe" Casserole. I am looking forward to the rest of the day! Thanks again for you advise!

Try to get colour into your food through variety, variety, variety. The best meals are ones that you eat with your eye first. Regardless of how good it tastes, when I put down my plate of baked chicken and mashed cauliflower (white with white on white) I KNOW it's going to taste good but the colours really depress me. I'll throw a little bit of ketchup on the chicken for colour, add lots of different veggies, etc.

I use herbs and spices to add flavor and to change flavor in the foods I make. It's amazing how just the addition of something like rosemary or dill can "wake up" a dish.

I agree with Kent. Add a variety of vegetables to your meals as well. Don't get stuck in the lettuce rut. Different vegetables have different flavors ranging from spicy to sweet. They can add "life" to a meal, not to mention the nutrients and fiber.

Definitely try spices. I think they have made a HUGE impact on the desire to eat the same thing over and over again. chili powder, tarragon, oregano, cumin...etc.

              Your palate is changing.
              This is a good thing.

There will be short time when you don't crave the food you are allowed to have. This is a normal stage - just keep eating the healthy food anyway. Soon you will be back to craving the healthy food and ignoring the junk.

Just keep going, you will be fine. You must eat. Never skip a meal. It is essential to your Atkins success

I agree. Variety, herbs and spices can make the mundane extraordinary.

If you need a recommendation on where to get spices, go to penzey's spices. Normally I am the cheap man at the supermarket, but it does pay to get good spices. You can disguise so much with just freshness in your spices. Bought cheap, IQF-packed chicken breasts? Throw special salt-free seasonings, and you'll wonder how you lived without it.
