  • I'm not losing weight! Help!

Hi all! I've been on Atkins for 7 days now and I've only lost 2 pounds and a half! Everybody seems to be losing massive amounts of weight, is there smth wrong with me??! I eat only allowed foods and keep it well under 20 carbs per day, I don't understand! Could the reason be I eat a lot of cheese? i'm vegeterian so I really can't give it up as cheese, fish and eggs are my only alloweed foods on atkins!

Firstly, it really depends on how much you have to lose? How much do you weigh at the moment?

On top of that, different people lose at different speeds.

    Whats your current weight?

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

If you've lost 2 1/2 pounds, you ARE losing weight! Good for you! We do all lose at different rates. Do you have & have you read the book? We're only allowed so much cheese. Try posting your menu so the more knowledgable here can tell you more.

I currently weigh 130, but I'm really petite so that's alot for me. My goal is 115. I eat a lot of cheese, like 14 oz a day even a bit more sometimes. I usually have about 3 eggs, and some fish but not that much. It's really difficult because I'm tackling with a binge eating disorder, and I still tend to overeat (in this case with cheese).

You have a 15 pound goal weight and have 2.5 of that 15 after 7 days. You've lost about 17% of the weight you need to lose. That's the equivalent of someone needing to lose 100 pounds losing 17 pounds in 7 days. So you're doing incredibly well.

You really need to read the book again because 14 ounces of cheese daily is not a part of the diet. So re-read the book and start eating good carbs like your vegetables.

Thanks so much to all for replying to my post!

Ok, say I manage to cut on the cheese, but what am I going to eat??? i can't live on fish and eggs for the next 7 days! I'm allergic to tofu, so that practically leaves me with no alternatives. I'm already sick of eggs, and fish is definitely not my favourite dish (once in two weeks is ok, but seriously who can eat fish every day??!!)

Take a look at the menus on this board and in the recipes database (link at the top of the page) for dishes that use eggs but are not particularly 'eggy'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I think doing a vegetarian version of ATkins is gonna be hard.Your right about eating the same foods over and over.......but what do you eat normally than?Sounds like your not eating like a vegetarian anyway........do you not eat vegetables? How do you get your nutrition daily.....even without being on ATkins?Sorry.........curious.

Re: I'm not losing weight! Help!

I thought vegetables are not very good on induction and that's why i'm not eating them. As a vegetarian I usually eat mainly bread, rice, a lot of fruit and vegetables, pasta, cereals, etc. Before going on Atkins I rarely ate eggs and cheese (except some light cheese spreads). May be I should just quit Atkins, and go back to my previous lifestyle which seemed (and tasted) a lot healthier, I probably just need to do a major cut in quantity, which obviously matters even on Atkins. So what's the point on being food-deprived and having to eat all these fats when i can at least go for something way more tasty, although in a lesser quantity. I'm confused..i don't want to give up on a diet again and I don't wanna struggle getting in my clothes all life..I'm sad!

We don't want to discourage you but there is very little we can do if you aren't reading the book. Our advice here is not a substitute that will work. You may indeed find that this way of eating does not suit your needs but it would only be fair to say that after you have given it a true shot. By reading the book you will see the importance of vegetables but you will also note the necessity of a high fat ratio - about 65% of your total intake daily.
