  • Veggies?

    Can I have more then 3 cups of greens a day if I don't go over my carb limit? I usually don't even make it close to 20, usually around 12 to 15, so is it possible for me to have an extra cup of salad or veggies without making it over 20?

    Are you still on Induction?? If not, as soon as your two weeks are up you can move to OWL rung one which is 5 more carbs of veggies. I have been doing it for almost two weeks, and I love the extra veggies.
    Are you getting all three cups in every day?
    What would we do without it?

        Yup still my two weeks. Alright I will still eat just the 3 cups a day, thanks.

          Personally, if I am hungry and I am craving something, I will eat an extra cup of cucumbers, and make no bones about it. If I MUST I will have an extra cup of a salad veggie, but not the ones higher in carbs. But that's just me, everyone's different

          Okay, 2big2mysize originally posted this, and then cypressgirl brought it up in another thread. I think this may help you.

          "A little Atkins plan back ground before 2002 the plan said in rule 5 you could use a carb counter and eat any 20 carbs you wanted . BUT in dealing with his patients and the folk calling and writing it became appearent that was not workoinng as folk made horrible food choices and got into trouble not only nutritionaly but with portion contriol from cravings so he did away with allowing anything and said from these lists pick 3 cups. He could have said pickj all 20 carbs and folk would have screamed about all the veggies they HAD to eat on Atkins. Instead he said eat 3 cups of these and make the majority of your carbs be from these lists but you can have 20 and eat other things with carbs like eggs cheese herbs and spices and salad dressing. Nice guy wasn't he."

            Personally, I would do your two weeks of induction following the rules then move to OWL. You can stay on the veggie rung for as long as you like (as long as you move through all phases of the plan as you get closer to goal as outlined in the book, of course).
