Re: One week down and 8 lbs lost
Congratulations! That is so wonderful!!!!
Really, the amount is different for everyone. Page 158 in DANDR gives you the break down. The chart is SOOO handy!
They say as a general rule, you lose 5-10% of what you have to lose. This can vary slightly though, b/c if you have a high metabolism, it will be more, and it could be less or not at all if you are metabolically resistant.
I think 8 pounds is fantastic! Don't be discouraged though, almost everyone experiences P.I.S.S. Post induction stall syndrome. I 'stalled' for 3 weeks! But it kicked right back up, and I was still losing inches during those 3 weeks, so it was a win win, ya know?
I thinky ou are on the right path, the path to success!!! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!!*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*

Re: One week down and 8 lbs lost
Congratulations!! 8lbs is absolutely wonderful! The initial induction phase is where you sweep off those water weight stores and begin your journey of fat loss. Everyone is definately different, so don't worry about wether or not it should be less, or more. I lost 1lbs during induction, while my husband wiped away 15lbs. I don't have as much to lose as he does, so when people say it's hard to take off that last 10-20lbs, I am STARTING at needing to take off those last 10-20lbs ya know what I mean? If I lost 8lbs my first week, I would be where I am right now <I've only lost 8lbs in 2.5 months> and would have reached goal by now. My husband has lost 32lbs in the same time period. If I lost as much weight as him, I would be skinny as a rail, and would have lost it at an unhealthy rate! That would be comparable to my husband reaching his goal already, and losing 90lbs in 2.5 months. Doesn't sound healthy does it? It isn't. So, don't compare yourself to anyone else, and don't question a healthy weight loss for YOU. I have heard that after the induction phase, a nice 2-3lbs a week loss is good. Anymore than that, and you may be losing muscle tissue..bad. GL! Again, Congratulations on the 8lbs!!!Originally posted by tomfrom jersetLost 8 lbs my first week!!!. 8lbs is pretty good, Tom. How tall are you, and what are your start and goal weights - cannot really tell how good 8lb is until we know the figures.
Whatever, keep up the good work.Odille

Re: One week down and 8 lbs lost
should it have been more?
8 pounds is fantastic.
Give yourself some credit. 1/2 a pound is fantastic. 1 pound is fantastic. 2 inches and no pounds is fantastic.
Get off the scale. Atkineers are not scale slaves.
You can lose entire sizes and not show any movement on the scale.
Keep going and give yourself a big hug for your lifestyle change. This WOE is a WOL!!!!
