Ok. I have been downing hot sauce like there's no tomorrow. When I bought it, I made sure it had 0 Carbs...but now as I further investigate (on a full stomach) I find that one of its main ingredients is VINEGAR! I've already shelved my Apple Cidar Vinegar for this diet...am I screwing up big time with the hot sauce? I've set it aside until further understanding is reached...

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
I think we can have vinegar, but it does have carbs. You should probably count one carb per tablespoon. Its the Balsamic Vinegar we can't have, it has sugar. Is there sugar in your hot sauce? If not, you will be fine. Just count the carbs!!
What would we do without it?

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
Oh. Whew! I was ready to smash that hot sauce bottle. It's sooooo yummy. And I love vinegar too. But mine is claiming for its tiny tiny serving size...that there are no carbs. Thanks for the quick response.

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
yep vinegar and just about every 0 carb for the small listed serving size food has carbs. so list the foods in your counter and give it .5-1 net carb to be safe every time you use it.
I can't tell you how many recipes had to be relabeled cause a new to Atkins person read their label as 0 for the bottle and not for the listed serving and added a bunch of it to a recipe and "claimed the recipe was induction safe and 0 carb. there was the 96 carb brownines recipe listed as less then 10,a 38 carb bbq sauce recipe that was listed as less then 1 for the recipes, and somebody that claimed to have a great induction cinnamon bun that didn't know cinnamon and flax had carbs just to name a few.
the best advice I ever got was know the accurate carb count for a food before it goes in your mouth. Just cause it says 0 for 1/4 t doesn't mean i it is 0 for a cup and could be a 94 carb mistake at that size seving since manufacturers can by law round down to ) if it has less then .5 carbs ofr the designated serving size.by the book atkinseer

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
I like fitday. I really like the custom food option so you can enter exactly the foods you're eating. If using their lists, just make sure you're using the right amount, etc. Some foods default to a cup for example rather then a tablespoon.

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
This is one time when I always think how lucky we are over here in UK as our labels are mostly giving information on calories/carbs etc for 100 mls (3.35 fluid oz) or 100 grams (3.5 oz) of the food!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Hot Sauce!! Vinegar?!?
Franks Red Hot sauce is one that I read was the safest. I use it, and used it during induction. Fry up some buffalo wings and slather them in some butter mixed with Franks, and MAN oh MAN are those wings goooooood!I did it!!

One of the useful 'sticky threads' at the top of this forum is this one about using fitday.com
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5775
There are quite a few other stickies there and in the other forums you might benefit from reading too when you have the time.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
