Has anyone had this problem....I keep a record of the calories and carbs that I'm eating and if I eat 1200-1500 calories or more I don't loose any weight, but if I eat 600-1000 I'll loose a pound every three days. I've tried to increase my exercise (walking 2 miles ) per day to help but I can't increase my metabolism.
My normal daily meal is :
Breakfast 2 eggs scrambled in olive oil
lunch 2cups lettuce /brocc/spinach w/one half can tuna(in water) one tlbsp mayo
snack small apple sliced with 2 tlbsp peanut butter
Dinner chicken breast baked with one cup salad

How can I make it so I can eat more and still loose weight? Should I stay on straight protein?

      Hi.

I assume you are still on Induction? Hence posting it in the Atkins Diet 14-day Induction section.

Apples are not allowed during this stage and thats quite possibly the reason you arent losing as much as you would like. Actually, peanut butter isnt on the allowed induction food listing either.

I'm drinking my required amount of water ,but I did't know about the apples and peanut butter. They were giving me my sweet fix. I'll cut them out for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. Thank you.

I think it may too. I went egg crazy when I first started and ate nothing but eggs cooked in butter and I lost weight like crazy but then I thought I should have a normal looking diet and adjusted thus stalled.I'll miss my apples though.

                Hi Dimple Flirt.
In the Main Atkins Forum, there is a sticky that has all of the food you are allowed to eat on induction.
                Good luck!!

                      Re: easy keeper

There is also a very useful 'sticky thread' amongst the 'sticky threads' at the top of this forum, with a wallet-sized list of induction-allowed foods to print and keep on you for when you go shopping or order a meal.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                        Re: easy keeper

We are missing the main focus of switching to an Atkins lifestyle if we waste our time counting calories and scale watching. Our focus needs to be on "eating the foods from the induction safe food lists" in abundance.

We do not need to count calories on Atkins. We only need to count carbs. We put our emphasis on eating eating "liberal" amounts of meat, fish, and eggs, 3 cups of veggies and 4 ounces of cheese into every day. We stay full.

It sounds like you are trying to do a calorie counting diet, and control portions to the extreme and that will surely cause you to fail.

Do not 2nd guess what your body is doing or experience anxiety about the time frame your body may need to switch over to ketosis. Metabolic processes take time.
Those who have found success on Atkins have cultivated patience for the long haul.

When a person admits that they love to eat and that isn't going to change, it becomes a strength and not a weakness. Living the Atkins way, one never has to starve, go hungry, count calories or do without. I encourage you to read the 2002 DANDR and all the stickys at the top of this forum.

Another EXTREMELY important aspect of the Atkins lifestyle is staying off the scale. You can go down ENTIRE sizes and see no scale movement at all. I know because it happened to me.

Avoid the scale because it is a totally self-defeating ritual that has no place during induction except at the beginning of your two week start and at the end.

Do a clean induction. Eat everything you are supposed to eat. Stay off the scale. Don't count calories. Read the book and the stickys. Good luck!

PS. When you crave a sweet make a mock danish or eat some jicama.
