  • Room for one more?

Hey everyone, Brian here starting induction phase again.

Real quick, not going to bore anyone here today with my story.

I have had success in the past, went from 333 to 218 in 12 months. Stayed there for about 1 year. Met my wife, went back to eating junk while she was carrying my son Aiden. I gained all but three pounds back. I have been on again off again since his birth but I think I am ready to make the real commitment. I just made it a year with out smoking, (2 pack\Day) and I am applying the same will power to this as I did to quitting smoking so I am confident that I can do it. I also gave up coffee today as well since some of the research I have done lately has suggested it can induce insulin spikes, which in turn can induce weight gain. My head is pounding, replacing it with water only.

One thing I do love and did not restrict my self with last time was cheese, real cheese not that processed junk. Anyone have any feedback on cheese, did it stop or slow down his or her weight loss.

Well, anyways great to join you all and I promise when I loose 50lbs and I am still active on the boards I will send a $50 donation J

      Hi and welcome.

You didn't mention how long ago you were on Atkins, but if it was before 2002, you ought to read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed. The Induction phase diet changed in the last edition from previous ones. So cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces daily, rather than being "unlimited".

I would say it was 99 or maybe 00. The cheese thing never bothered me though. Maybe it was that I was at or below my accepted levels. See the only thing I monitored was the amount of Carb intake and that was that.

With all of us losing weight, there is more room every day for more people.

Cheese doesn't stall me no matter how much I have, but I still keep it at 3-4 ounces just so I know I'm doing this right.

Congrats on quitting smoking and welcome to the family!

Hey! Congratulations on kicking your smoking habit in the butt. Now it's the eating habits that need work. Just keep your eyes on your goals and don't get tempted for some tiny amount of temporary satisfaction. It might tickle your taste buds and make you feel warm inside, but that warmth will soon turn to regret and lookie lookie, you've set yourself back.

Good luck with second time wrong! ^^

Wow. I so admire anyone who quits that lethal habit. You are a total winner and now that you are back on Atkins you will soon be a total loser too!!!

                Re: Room for one more?

Hi again everyone! You thought you lost me didn't you No such luck and I am here for the long haul.

Ok well I finished the Atkins induction (Day 14 today) down from 315 to 303.... missed the mini goal by 3 lbs but on the BRIGHT side of things I lost 12! Yippee for me.

I had already been doing a modified version of low carb but 2 weeks ago I modified it right back to Atkins and quit the coffee! So no more Smokes and no more Coffee and I don't drink. Don't drink, don't smoke what do you do I was incorporating many of the low carb FRANKEN FOODS into my diet. It was ok for a couple of weeks, I went from 333 to 315, but I stayed there and stayed there and…well you get the picture. So after about a month of not losing any weight I resolved to do this the right way! So here I am 2 weeks on the induction and closer to 300 lbs then I have been in a long time, a real long time.

300 lbs was my mini goal for the 2-week induction phase and I made it to 303 so not too bad I would say! I did cheat once; I had 2 Michelob Ultra’s at a friends 75th birthday party. So maybe them 2 beers kept me from reach the goal, I don’t know but I am not going to kill myself over it. I gave myself a slap and jumped right back on the wagon.

I have been weighing myself every day and for the most part it was pretty inspiring! I am going to try to reach my mini goal of 300 lbs by this Sunday so I will see you all then when I weigh in.

                Thanks for being here!
