  • Look what I found!!! IS IT SAFE!?

    Hello Everyone,

I was in my local healthfood store (food mill) and found a loaf of flax bread (6 carbs a slice). . . .is this something I can have with my bacon and eggs in the moring (1 slice with butter of course)

I looked at the ingredients and the only questionable thing I saw on there was the flour from dried berries. . . .does that mean this bread is unacceptable?? I do have my own flax meal at home and have been using it for the crackers (haven't quite figured out how to make a loaf yet and the make sandwiches) but. .can someone tell me if this is ok??

It's not legal during the induction stage...only later on during the appropriate OWL rung.

If you want a slice of 'bread', make one of these:

Don't eat it all in one sitting though...that's a lot of flax at one time. I'll make it, slice it into three slices and eat one a day.

But other than that, no, that bread you talk about is probably not induction safe.
Remember, if it ain't on the Acceptable Foods list, don't eat it.

Moochie, are those gas producing? Looks like something I might like, but not if it's going to have me pooting all day. (sorry for the gross question.)

In my experience, the flax bun hasn't been a gas producer, and neither has flax done that to me whether I've sprinkled it on salad or cooked it as a cereal.
          Your mileage may vary.
Just remember to drink lots of water when you eat flax as it needs help moving through your system.

I make toast using that recipe. I microwave the "bread" in a square "disposable" Ziplock or Glad container. I melt the butter in the container, then I add everything else, mix it up and let it sit for a few minutes to let the baking powder do it's stuff. I'll then nuke it for 1 minute, take the "bread" out, slice it in two and pop it in my toaster for a crisping. Slather on more butter and eat. Yum! And it keeps things "moving" if you KWIM . If I'm *just* eating it for breakfast, I've also been known to add a bit of Splenda, vanilla extract, sugar-free syrup (DaVinci?) or cinnamon.
