  • Another sugar question.....

On the nutritional label it will say 0 grams of sugar, but you see sugar listed in the ingredients. Do you say no to this or is it ok?

    Thanks

Thats a darn good question! I am guessing the answer is probably no based on the book.

If you are in induction it's a no-no irregardless of the zero on the label.

Ok I know Im getting annoying, but I'm just trying to do this right. I'm going to start OWL in 3 days, does that mean the sugar rule changes a little bit?
        Thanks

Added sugar is pretty much a no-go. If you want to ultimately balance your baody, then added sugar will always kepp you going up and down. Some foods have sugar in them naturally, which is why we reintroduce them later or not at all. Hope that helps.

I'll tell you way (and this is really annoying).

The US govt allows food manufacturers to round DOWN.

So if you have a bag of chips... they make that 8 'servings' with 0.25g of sugar which they then round DOWN to 0. So if you eat the whole bag its 2g of sugar and NOT zero.

Don't be fooled! Read the ingredients!

Yes - you need to look at the actual list of ingredients to see if they ahve added sugar to a food.
They do have to list them with the largest quantity first, so you will see if there is a lot of sugar or aonly a smidgen of it, but to be safe choose foods with no sugar listed in the ingredients.

                  Me too, Heidi.
Most dressings for instance can be made at home wihout sugar added if you cant find one in the shops.
Take a look at our recipes forums and if you cant find a recipe for your favourite 'sugar added' food or dressing post a thread in the 'recipe requests' forum.
