  • Cheese? Carb? Can't be carb-free

Hey ya'll. I had 6 oz. ham and 2 oz. of monterey jack cheese for lunch, but when I put it into fitday (you can see mine below) it said the cheese was carb-free. I read on here somewhere to count each ounce of cheese as 1 carb though. Can someone please tell me which is correct?

Re: Cheese? Carb? Can't be carb-free

Dr. Atkins said to count 1 ounce as 1 carb. So do it, because cheese is a high calorie food and if you get into your head that "oh it's only 0.000001 carb, I can eat another 3 ounces" you'll be eating 300 more calories. Remember what Dr. Atkins wrote in Chapter 11: calories do matter and eventhough the low carb approach gives you a metabolic advantage to lose weight, it doesn't give you the license to gorge.

It also stalls many so the 3 oz is a good amount to stick with

Thank you both so very much! I do like my cheese and I will count it as 1 carb per ounce.
