  • Hi everyone I am new!!!!

    Hello everyone!! I am new to the board!!! I strated Atkins 4 days ago (counting today) and I am down 6 lbs I am sooooooooooooooooo excited I still cannot believe it.. I got back on scale 4 times this morning to double check it was right.. I have not seen this number on the scale in at least a year with my last pregnancy (when I passed it of course)
    Anyways my name is Loana I am a 26 SAHM and a part time student..been married for 7 yeras I have 3 boys a 4 year old a 21 month old and an 8 month old... I am at my biggest I have ever been before and it sucks I suffered form an eating disorder anorexia and bulimia when I was a teen but I find it easy to try to fall into some steps on ed and try not to.. I am still brastfeeding and have not seen any difference in my milk supply for the baby I have continued taking my prenatal vitamins!
    I tried Weight Watchers and I found myself cheating and borrowing pointsand loosing a couple of lbs to gain them the next few days!!!
    Anyways I have been reaing the Dr Akins New Diet Revolution but the firsty one I think form 1999 will that do? or would I need a more updated one?
    is there like a recipe book he has out? I been eating nothing but meat, cheese(monterrey jack)chicken breast,bacon and eggs.... also a couple of protein bars 1gram carbs net I season my meats with lemon pepper and hot sauce. Anywho looking forward to being around and getting encourage as well to encourage other epople around here!

    Hi Loana! So glad that you've made the committment to join us and get healthy. We read and practice the updated version of DANDR...Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. If you can get a copy of that - it is more updated and improved.

    CONGRATULATIONS on your first 6 pounds. You are doing awesome!! I'd suggest you start a journal to record your feelings, thoughts, weight and measurements. It really helps. Also, create a plan on what you will do in stressful moments when life is making you unhappy and you just want to reach for comfort food (sweets, chips, pizza...etc). I found that if you already have a written plan to tell you what to do, it is easier to avoid the tempation to just have a quick fix of carbs.

    The ADBB is the best place to get the encouragment and support as you change your ways to create a new healthy life-style. Check out the forums for motivation, knowledge, suggestions, health and life issues and friendships. Best wishes!!!

            Loana, keep in mind that you lose roughly 5lbs of water in the first 3 days of induction. Even still, if you're down 6 that probably means 1lb of fat loss and thats how this whole diet starts!

              Thanks, yeah I figured it was mostly water weight.. but is very encouraging to see the scale come down so is good enough to keep me going!!! I have about 80 more lbs to loose!

                Hi Loana. I am new too. 3 kids. Wow must be handful.

                I am glad that your scale shows somethng different than 4 days ago. I wish I could say the same thing (refer to my other post)

                  hey fashionista... I know is very encouraging to see the scale to come down.. I had told myself that no matter what as long as the scale was not going up I was going to give this a try for the 14 days let's do this!!!!! I a sure your scale will start coming down very soon hun!

                    Please don't let the ups/downs of losing weight stop you! There have been times in the past few years when my weight has gone up for no reason - but I have always found if I stay on plan, it goes back down. Even when I'm doing extra exercise and drinking extra water, there's been times when it has stayed the same. Everyone's body is different. Don't compare yourself to others. We are all unique in our journeys. If you follow the 14 day induction, eating correctly, drinking water, taking supplements and exercising....you will be surprised when you do your final weigh and measure and compare it to the first ones.

                    Stay with it. Don't give up. Read the posts from others who have made it happen - Loser's Lounge. Look at the before/after photos. You will do it!! Atkins works.

                      Please eat your 3 cups veggies a day. If you are not eating veggies, you are not doing Atkins. It is not healthy to only eat meat and cheese. This is about being healthy and thin, not thin at any cost. Please, I am saying this because I am worried about you, not to be mean or bossy. I want you to be thin and healthy! You are worth it, and veggies are yummy and good for you!!
                      What would we do without it?
