  • First day over!

On to my second day now......first day was really easy, except that I run a youth club on tuesday evenings, and I have to set up the tuck shop full of sweets, crisps and drinks that I can usually have for free!

We also go the pub for a meeting afterwards, and I ordered a beer and remembered I couldn't drink it, just as it touched my lips....it took some serious willpower to give my beer to my girlfriend!

On to day 2 now....bought a blender and been making some really nice fresh veggie soups. Starting some exercise today too!

Wish me luck! I need this weight loss to improve my health and self image.

Good luck congrats on NOT drinking that beer. It will be worth it in the long run.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Welcome to the ADBB! Be cautious of your veggie content during induction. You can only have three cups of veggies. In my opinion, it might be difficult to do a proper carb count in soup form.

Its important to keep your carb content to 20 or less during induction so that your body will go into ketosis.

Be sure to have a copy of the 2002 DANDR handy
and read it. Also read all the stickys at the top of
        this forum.

You must take this new way of life seriously. Let
someone else take over the tuck shop. Carbage
        isn't good for anyone.

Keep going and you won't need to use willpower for long.

started my gym programme today...can anyone recommend the best way to burn fat? Is cardio or weights a better option? I'm planning to vary my exercise but would like to ensure my time is spent wisely!

Cardio and weights have their own benefits to add to weight loss. If you can, try for some of both.

Cardio will burn up energy while doing it. Generally you need to do at least 30 minutes of cardio to get the internal fires going. Cardio will help increase your metabolism, speeding up your consumption rates. It's also good for building up your heart, lungs, and your stamina.

Weights increase your muscle mass. Muscles burn more energy per pound than fat, so the more muscle you have, the more you burn. It's like having a bunch of mini fuel-burning fires. Weights will also help tone and tighten your muscles, early on. If you don't get much lifting in outside of normal daily stuff, your muscles will tighten up and take less space. Tightening your abs might help the belt line a bit.

Four pounds lost in under 3 days!!!! I know most of this will be water, but it's sooooo good to see the scales moving in the right direction. At the gym by 6:30am today too!

                  Re: First day over!

Do a mixture of cardio and weights. Here is my six week progress photo from the day I started using weights and cardio http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=28045

I had already lost about 20 or so pounds when I started (my before pic) and I only lost 12 lbs during the six weeks...but wow, what a difference...and it's all FAT gone baby!

Do weights one day, cardio the next and take one day off a week as rest.
