  • Sample menu-what's everyone eating?

    Hi everybody!

Can everyone post what they eat on a daily basis? I am getting tired of eating the same old and too afraid to experiment. This would be a great way to get new ideas.

    I will begin:

    Breakfast:

2 hard boiled eggs, I eat the yolks only.

or 2 egg omlette with halfan onion and 1 tomato. I spice it with salt, red crushed pepper and cumin.

    or Bacon

    Hot tea-no sweetener
    Coffe-no sweetener
    Decaf coffee

    Snack:

4 oz of cheese..Edam, gouda, mozzarella
    Decaf coffee

    Lunch:

Lamb or steak or chicken..all grilled and spiced with basil, salt, etc

    Dinner:

Steak, lamb or chicken..all grilled, spiced
3 cups of salad-my dressing is salt and olive oil only

    Snack:

Pork rinds with hot sauce (0 carb)
    Decaf coffee

I drink anywhere from 64-90 oz of water a day

    Your turn..

    Re: Sample menu-what's everyone eating?

Don't be afraid to experiment! Now is the time to do it. I now have so many new favourite recipes that my family loves too.

This morning for breakfast I had a cheese omelet (sometimes it's scrambled eggs, fried eggs, or mock danish)

For lunch I had leftover porkchops, some celery and green pepper strips with a bit of ranch dressing, a bit of leftover cauliflower and cheese sauce.

My afternoon snack will most likely be cheese strings.

Dinner will be salmon, a cup of mixed salad and a cup of sauteed cabbage. I'm venturing into OWL so have slightly more veggies than on induction.

Most days are about the same - just different veggies and meats. This weekend I am going to do some cooking for the freezer. There are some great recipes on this Board and at Linda's Lowcarb. You will be amazed at how delicious some foods can be.

Why do you save all your veggies for dinner? Why not throw some in with your omelet and have some at lunchtime too? Spread them out a bit. Having them all at once can cause blood sugar spikes and cravings.

I agree with Lady about spreading your vegetables out. Having your vegetables with your meals will also help you avoid over-eating (yes, you can over-eat on Atkins!).

You might want to spread your cheese out too. Adding an ounce of cheese to your meals adds flavor and helps to decrease food boredom.

I frequently have leftovers for breakfast: they're quick, prep-time is minimal, and I know it tastes good because I had it the night before for dinner.

The reason I eat my veggies in the evening is that I have no time in the mornings. I barely have the time to make something before I head out. Lunch is also a eat something fast deal for me. Evenings are the only time when I can sit down, eat and nibble on my veggies Weekends, however I enjoy a long breakfast.

Can you make your food the night before? I usually make my eggs the night before and reheat them at work. Or I eat my mock danish cold. You can make a salad with tuna or leftovers the night before. On the weekend I make up a bunch of little baggies with cut up veggies in them. Then in the morning I can just grab them and go. I have no time in the morning to prepare anything, that's for sure, so I do it all the night before. I also boil a bunch of eggs on the weekend too so I can grab them for a quick snack or meal and they are all ready to go if I feel like devilling them.

              Re: Sample menu-what's everyone eating?

I had an 'induction-style food' day today so here it is.

Breakfast : Cheesey flax bun (1/4 of the microwaved flax bread recipe with 2/3rd ounce of cheddar cheese mixed in) with 1/4 cup of cherry tomatoes
Lunch : 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon and 1 cup of fried mushrooms (our local cafe still cant believe I am really on a 'diet'!!)
Dinner : stirfried cabbage/spring onions/shredded chicken breast/shredded 1 egg omelette cooked in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil with chinese 5-spice powder

No snacks today as I wasnt hungry outside meal times
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Is feta or Turkish white cheese ok? (made with sheep's milk)

Also, the max. cheese we are allowed a day.. Does that go for every type of cheese that we are allowed to eat?

                Thank you!

                  Re: Sample menu-what's everyone eating?

breakfast - 2 fried eggs and 2 strips of bacon
                  lunch - 3 hamburger patties
                  supper - 3 chicken thighs...

I usually grill a bunch of meat over the weekend and throw it in the fridge. I will usually have 3 or 4 choices of different meats so I can rotate them and not get bored with them.

                    Re: Sample menu-what's everyone eating?

Today for breakfast I had 3 thin slices of steak left over from dinner last night but usually I have a 3 egg omlet with mushrooms and cheddar cheese. Only takes a few minutes to make but really tasty.

Lunch today I had a cob salad with mixed greens, one hardboiled egg sliced, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of chicken breast, chopped ripe olives about a tablespoon, tablespoon of blue cheese, 6 cherry tomatoes, and carbwell ranch dressing with 0 carbs. It was yummy.

for dinner tonight I'm having fried hamburger patty with cauliflower maybe make twiced baked potato out of it with butter, sour cream, green onions, bacon bits and cheese just a little bit of each on top and pop it in the oven for a few mintues yummy yummy yum. haha

                    for snack pork rinds

I am not sure about feta, but the 3-4 ounces of cheese per day on induction is the total of all cheeses including cream cheese etc.
