    how long did it take for ketosis to kick in?

    on average, how long does it take for ketosis to kick in?

    I've been on induction for three days, and am losing a few pounds (water retention) but still not in ketosis.

    Answers on a postcard please.....

    For me it was the end of the second day, but I guess everyone varies. How do you know you are not in ketosis. The fact that you are losing even if just the water is a good sign that you are.

      Do you have funky breath, weird taste in your mouth, lack of hunger, extra thirsty? Any of these indicate that you are in ketosis. Why do you think you are not?

        I started into ketosis the end of day 2, but day 4 was when it got darker.

          My stix never turn darker than pale lavender even though I know I'm in ketosis. They seem to work better for some people than others though. I don't worry too much about what the little "pee sticks" say.

            last time i tried atkins, the ketostix were purple after a couple of days, but they're not registering as much with me.

            I'm worried that I may have made a mistake by eating carrots today, forgot that they were not on the list! Will they make a huge difference? I've been good other than this!

              Well depending on how many carrots you had it might have made a difference!

              Are you drinking lots of water this time? This could lighten the reading somewhat.

              I never got a dark reading when I used the ketosticks so htough I bought and used one pack when I began Atkins I never bothered to buy another pack when they were used up. And I still lost 140 pounds!

              As ladyinred said - there are other signs of ketosis, do you have those?

                  About 3 days here... give or take. you'll start to notice symptoms... like soreness or lack of the flu or lack of hunger.

                  The stix work but not very well. You can be in ketosys but still not be on atkins...

                    It varies. Variation is normal. For some people it can take up to a week or even longer. Allow your body all th time it needs to change metabolic processes.

                    Just stay off the scale my friend. No weighing until day 15. It is best to rid yourself of all the unhealthy compulsions from the start.

                      the first time i went on the diet it took me 2 days and this time it was on the 3rd day yesterday that i finally got purple!!!
