  • Need some suggestions

I've have really seen results over the past two months. Not only am I down 30 pounds, but my overall health and general disposition has improved significantly. I thank everyone for the word of wisdom and encouragement. I have been on extended induction (6 weeks)with a slight modification every now and again depending on how hard and long I am running. I may eat 5 extra acceptable carbs if I feel sluggish. Anyhow- these past two days have been the worst! I totally crashed! I can't put my finger on what has caused this spiral downward, but I have been eating everything in site. I am going to bed now for fear that I will eat more. I am waking tomorrow with a renewed spirit and determination. I was hoping for some suggestions of what to do when I have the urge to eat something sweet or high carb. I have tried drinking water, going for a walk, playing with my daughter - but nothing takes the overwhelming urge away. I guess I now know what my friend experienced with her addiction to alcohol. I have not experienced this to this extend during the past two months.

Eat something high in fat. Celery with cream cheese or just cheese by itself. A very small fat snack will satisfy me very quickly.

If you want something sweet...I do whipped cream/cream cheese and splenda. OMG it's good, very rich too--so it's hard to overeat (for me anyway).

Avocado would be good too if you like that.

What about cream cheese blended with DaVinci's syrup to make it like frosting? I haven't tried it, but thought about it last night when reading the boards. Has anyone tried it? If so, what's the best combination?

Maybe you should review your menu from the last few days to see if, somehow, you ate something that triggered the cravings. It could be something as simple as eating a lot of veggies at once without any fat. It also may be time to start moving up the OWL rungs. You will still lose weight, but you will also get more variety. Your body may be wanting more carbs and maybe you should be giving it more carbs - the Atkins way. Sometimes a legal sweet snack is a nice occasional treat too, but first I would see what has suddenly triggered this urge. Also, cheese, a devilled egg or a dill pickle seems to work for lots of people to cure that sweet craving.

I agree with LiRed. Check your menu and see if you ate differently the past few days. Something very well could have triggered you and set you off. (especially if you have eaten out!)
Sweet stuff- tea with heavy cream and splenda. MtOlive makes bread and butter pickles with Splenda. cream cheese mixed with ground flax and a dab of splenda always kills any craving for me.

Something else to think about.... moving to OWL. The first rung is just more veggies from the induction list. somedays those extra veggies make all the difference.
