I really haven't done as good as I thought this first week of induction. I read that you could have a lot of things that I am finding out are not good for you on induction if you want maxmum weight loss. I have had sf jello, sugar free whipped cream, and other goodies to satisfy my sweet tooth. I realized yesterday that my weight loss up to this point would have been much more significant had I not eaten all of the yuckies. I also drank coffee and lots of diet soda, I know you can have both, but probably not to the extent that I have been. Well, I have had to change my ways. I want this weight to come off NOW!!! I don't really feel great today. I haven't had ANY caffeine or soda. I know that I am supposed to feel this way, so I am okay with it. I will detox and move on. I am posting this because I have read a lot of people recently that are complaining about their weight loss. I wanted to share my experience. I really thought that I was okay, I was steadily losing, but not enough for me. After taking this stuff out of my diet we will see.

Re: Week 1 redo.
Congratulations on deciding to drop the caffeine and diet sodas and other sweetened 'treats'
I am sure your body will thank you for it!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Week 1 redo.
You sound like you are struggling with the exact same "stuff" that I am! Listen, I, too, drink coffee and diet drinks. I know they are not the best things to put in your body while on Induction. So, this is what I did... I decided I had to choose between coffee or diet drinks. I chose coffee. I drink no more than 2 cups of coffee each morning and that's it. For the rest of the day, I drink water. The only time I will allow myself to have a diet drink is if I "MUST"! I, then, make sure it doesn't have any caffiene. By doing this I end up only drinking a diet drink about 2 times a week, which is better than every day or several times a day. The reason I don't "forbid" these 2 items is b/c I am still in Ketosis each day, losing weight, and if I couldn't have them at all, well, then I would not be able to do this plan. Oh, also, it took awhile but I eventually switched from coffee with caffiene to decaf. However, it took quite awhile.
I guess what I am trying to say is it's okay if you are still losing and in ketosis. Good luck with your decision and I hope I helped even if it was just a little.
Let me mention, I am in my re-do of week 1. I messed up, too. We can do this I know we can! I like what you wrote on your signature page. I say all that same stuff to myself too. I probably should write it down like you did and post it on my fridge.

Re: Week 1 redo.
I'm right there with you, I am cutting the coffee and sodas and cutting back on the splenda to try to lose a little more a little faster. And I added exercise this week and that caused a water weight gain I am still trying to lose. But I know in the long run it is better to exercise even if the numbers look bad right now.Cheryl

Re: Week 1 redo.
I have to tell you, I dropped 4 lbs the first day. That was yesterday. I got on the scale this morning and was pleasantly surprised. I have struggled with the diet soda. I allowed myself a decaf coffee with splenda and cream. The book says that is okay. I also had a caffeine free soda. book says that is okay as well, my prob is the lack of caffeine. But TOM is here so I had to do something to keep myself from cheating. I will count these things in my carbs today though.

Re: Week 1 redo.
I did my first week of induction the week before TOM and I usually get big time PMS. I get cravings for sweets like crazy especially chocolate and just cannot be satisfied no matter what I eat, and I retain water and get bad headaches. I was surprised I was able to do as well as I did that week. But, the week during TOM was not so good that is when I had the Easter Candy incident. But now this week all that is over and I can not worry about cravings for a couple of weeks anyway. By then I hope to have done really well and not have any more cravings. Today though I'm just hungry for some reason. I have been drinking water like crazy and munching on pepperoni but I still feel hungry. Not sure what is up with that.Cheryl
