Kimberly, if you ate the skin on your chicken, that's why the higher percentage of fat. Most of the fat in chicken is in the skin. HOWEVER, do NOT hold the skin, eat the skin, revel in the skin LOL!

A typical induction menu for me might include a couple eggs for breakfast with some type of meat. I generally only eat bacon once or twice a week. Otherwise, ham, sausage, ground beef, pork chop etc. I'll usually have some type of cheese too. If I use shredded cheese, 1 oz would be the most I'd use. You'll want to have some of your veggies at this time. Omelettes are a great way to get all of this in. Eggs, meat, cheese, and tomato or bell pepper.

Lunch would be my two cups of salad--one cup lettuce and one cup of other stuff like bell pepper, mushrooms, etc. with 1 oz of shredded cheese, and maybe boiled egg. I'd also have a serving of meat. Chicken on the salad if that's what you like. Steak too. Or, have a hot serving of meat with the salad.

Dinner I would have some sort of meat and a hot vegetable--broccoli, cauliflower, squash, cabbage, brussel sprouts, Spinach, etc. This is where I kind of get creative...like cooking the vegetable and adding a teaspoon of parmesan cheese and a tablespoon of cream...makes a great "alfredo" type sauce.

I put this into my fitday account and here is what that would come up to:

Total Carbs 19 minus 7 grams fiber is 12 Net gram carbs
      Total Calories is 1339

      Hope this helps.

Welcome Kimberly - read all the stickys at the top of the forum. Great info there. Read the 2002 DANDR. It is essential.

Liberal portions of meat, fish, eggs, 4 ounces of cheese and 3 cups of veggies. Tons of water - thats induction.
I took liberal to mean as much as I wanted within reason. I ate till I was full. Keep yourself full, never go hungry. Once ketosis sets in, your appetite will be reduced. For now, stick like glue to the foods on the induction safe list and make sure to eat regular meals with snacks.

Thankyou guys for all of the great advice, it's helped a lot because I was going to either go off the diet or quit eating altogether those were my options. The good news is that I've been doing induction for three days, I got on the scale this morning and have lost 3 pounds! I know it's not much but it's a start.

Congratulations on starting your weightloss journey by making sure you are sticking to the rules

Most of us found it took a few days to get the hang of inducton

One helpful bit of advice I followed was to print out the list of allowed foods and always refer to it before buying, cooking or ordering food.
It is one of the sticky threads in the FAQ forum (link at the top of the page)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
