My first week of induction is over and the scales tell me i've lost 5.9kgs, thats 13 pounds there abouts.
I know its just water weight but hey.. i like the look of that, 13 pounds less to carry!
.
It has been a busy week and i decided BABY STEPS it wasn't the time bring in the exercise, though it may have helped with the stress/overwhelm from work.
That said walking begins tomorrow (got a partner organised) or maybe even today, weather willing. The weight training will begin when i can get my gear shipped up from brisbane (oh yeah i'm from australia). I'm also clearing out a space for my exercise bike in the spare room.
I think eating this way has already enabled me to handle stress a little better. Something to do with the blood sugar levels and the routine of it all i imagine.
When you start a new way of eating the world will test you, in my case:
Day 1 of induction: someone brings a pizza over to share! (they didn't know)
Day 2 of induction.. the local pasta joint wants something done (normally in exchange for some free feeds since they are friends)
Day 3 of induction.. the gourmet pizza joints does the same.
THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN ANY OTHER TIME!
Every day during the first few days of induction my almost 2yr old daughter would try to share a biscuit with me or.. bring me a pizza voucher.
She has stopped now..
Not feeling hungry it was easier to say no to these temptations.
The strange thing is i'm loving the food & i'm not hungry. i don't see why anyone would complain about it. You can really make alot of different things with the base induction ingredients alone, if your creative about it.
What have i been eating?
Eggs, Tuna, Capsicum (Green Peppers), Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, chicken, steak, beef mince, bacon, cauliflower etc etc
No sweeteners, milk, caffiene, soda etc
Drinking about 4 litres of water a day.. i'm addicted to it now.
And taking a multivitamin with my breakfast
My favourite induction food so far:
Go to the spice and herb section of your supermarket and grab some mixed herbs, oregano, lemon pepper. minced garlic etc (grab the packets and not the jars there cheaper.. and you don't know what you like until you try) throw a bit of this on your food and it really brings it to life.
I work from home (web designer/web programmer/internet marketer), so the meal planning is easier for me i think. My little daughter (almost 2) does like sharing daddies omelettes to.
The best tip i have so far:
When i went to fast foods places i scouted the menu for atkins friendly options so i knew if i do end up in there what i would get.
I browsed this forum so much that i'm sure the bandwidth bill went up 20%.
My point is:
I'm in this for the long haul!
Thanks ADBB

My favourite induction food so far:
- mince, spiced up a bit & wrapped in lettuce with a light sprinkle of cheese.
- Tuna with some homemade salsa (sounds wierd but i got it off some cable tv show) a light sprinkle of cheese, microwave it and wrap it in lettuce.
- 2 or 3 egg omelette with bacon in it. Some times i chop up a slice of tomato & or a slice of onion.
- Fauxtatoes (i spread this across my steak last night)
- Chicken breast or thigh cut in half with some bacon or cheese in it or just layered on top. I usually have a side of broccoli with this.

The best tip i have so far:
- Browse the recipes for ideas..
- Always have some legal backup food if your hungry and
- Drink loads of water. I drink a 750ml bottle of water with my meal. Not to mention the bottles in between that.
- Notice when your full, don't eat for the sake of eating.
When i went to fast foods places i scouted the menu for atkins friendly options so i knew if i do end up in there what i would get.

My point is:
- Plan it.
- Schedule it!
- Do it! and
- don't rush you've got the rest of your life to get this right.
I'm in this for the long haul!
