Re: Willpower ~ Have You Or Haven't You?
Taking the bull by the horns and telling myself that I have had enough of the excuses helped me. I havent looked back since.
It just takes two weeks of clean induction to break habits.
Lou, you can do it!

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

I WANT it soooooooooooo much, I really do, but I just seem to give in to my weak moments. Afterwards it really does get me down and i'm full of regret.Originally posted by RichtTaking the bull by the horns and telling myself that I have had enough of the excuses helped me. At all week moments, take a big gulp of water and relax. Those "moments", do eventually pass.
Either that or take a cold shower ;-)

for me is "You have to give something to get something" YES I am Billy Blanks admirer , and that is what he always says.
And I just dont have a thing for food, is more like if I am depressed I eat, but I wont do it now, that I have been so good lately. I will keep up... Nothing is more valuable than my health and well being

Re: Willpower ~ Have You Or Haven't You?
I made a list of all the reasons that I wanted to lose weight and every time I am even slightly tempted, I pull it out and read it. Then I look at my weight on my fitday account and see how it's been going down. Lastly, I come here and read. By the time I finish with all that, I've either forgotten about what tempted me or I give myself a pat on the back because I no longer want it.
Hang in there!

And always make sure you have a 'legal' snack available.
Failing to plan is planning to failWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

This is great advice. It really helps to write down your goals as well. And believe in yourself and believe that you are worth it!Originally posted by Kate113I made a list of all the reasons that I wanted to lose weight and every time I am even slightly tempted, I pull it out and read it. Re: Willpower ~ Have You Or Haven't You?
Well this is going to sound sick as ****...
But, I wear rubberbands around my wrist and when I cheat I snap them
. Hurts like **** but a few snaps later and raw skin, Makes you think twice about cheating. I dont cheat anymore!
Its a training tip my brother's trainer used "he is a former boxer"
again I am not recommending this, it just worked for me. I still wear rubberbands, helps to keep me in check!

Re: Willpower ~ Have You Or Haven't You?
Here's how I personally have looked at it. I kept thinking of that saying, *A journey of a 1,000 miles, starts with a single step*. So I made myself take a step forward. I knew that all the putting it off until tomorrow and Oh, I'll just have ONE piece of candy, is what got me to where I was to begin with. Because it's like an addiction and putting things off and still having just one here and there, just doesn't let you break that cycle your in. So I just started looking at all that bad food, like something that was trying to hurt me. Yeah, it wants me to eat it, because it wants to hurt me and it doesn't want me happy and healthy. I know that probably sounds totally insane, but that's how I've looked at it and it's helped me a lot. I feel like this is a fight between me and that food, and there's NO WAY I'm letting it win because I know I'm stronger than that.
Another thing is this, I look at how far I've come and if I cheat, I have to go back to square one. Is literally 20 seconds of having something that just tastes good in my mouth before I swallow, worth sacrificing ALL of this work? Weeks of work and trying and exercise and my mind and body giving it's all, all gone just like that? No way!!
So that's what gets me through personally. Plus, I think of how nice it'll be to do little things, like not buy fat clothes and be able to comfortably sit in theater seats and finally go kayaking and things that I want to do SO bad. Everyday I'm closer to those things.
Just keep your head up.
You CAN do it. If I can, I know you can!

Re: Willpower ~ Have You Or Haven't You?
i found out just how much willpower i had today........my biggest thing is not even food(strange huh). mine is the doggone scale, i decided when my DH & i started we would only weigh in on mondays, unlike last time when i seemed to weigh myself daily. well, today i was in bathroom looking at the evil scale and thought it's not that far away from monday, then evil thoughts set in.....like
"just step on the scale" & "he'll never even have to know". i even had one foot on the scale, then i snapped back into reality and stepped off the scale. i started back on this woe to be true to myself and what kind of example am i setting for myself if i get off track. this may sound a little weird to some, but besides knowing that i've been completely cheat free for 2+ weeks, i have been true to myself.
I want to be a happier, healthier person. just remember to be true to yourself and you will be stronger as a person and with your eating habits as well.
if an urge strikes you and you are having a battle within yourself know that the new you is stronger and just by being on this woe you already proven that you are stronger than any urge that comes along.
i know that someday i will be faced with an urge to cheat, but i know because of the way i feel and because the support of this message board, i feel i will be able to overcome the urge.
