  • Should I stop exercising?

    Hi everyone! I am doign14-days extended induction, and I have not weighted my self since sunday, I only lost 1/2 pound on my first 12 days.
    I exercise a lot, I mean like 5-6 times a week. I am only 4'11" and I usually run the elliptical 60 minutes or do Boot Camp elite for 1 hour(2 dvd's) and then allways some Pilates (either 20 or 40 more minutes)
    My usual menu is something like this:
    Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 flax seed bun , decaf coffee, some butter on the bun
    snack: veggies w/olive oil or turkey (no mayo this week)
    lunch: either chicken or fish w/ veggies
    snack: more veggies with olive oil
    dinner: same as lunch
    I am watching portions, taking my multivitamin and oils, not cheating, but i feel heavy on the legs, must be all the workouts, howvere I dont want to weight myself because I am afraid I gain weight.
    My waistline and hips seems to be smaller. I can feel it but I feel like my legs are so heavy because of the muscle
    Should I just give a rest to the work outs or work out less, I dont want to feel heavy. My main goal was to lose only 10 pounds. Now I dont know. If I keep gaining, I know is muscle but still is discouraging

    Keep exercising.. You are losing right on track. You only have ten pounds to lose.

    A moderator will be here shortly ( I am sure).

    Do you have DANDR? He specifically talks about how much weight (percentage) you should lose during the induction phase and thats based on your total weight loss goal.

    I dont have my bible, I mean DANDR with me.. But keep up the good work and keep moving and dont forget your .

      thanks for the quick response, I do drink more than 128 fl oz every day since I started atkins, with no effort, If I am in cetosis I am so thirsty all day long

        It sounds to me like you're doing just fine. Yes, muscle weighs more than fat and you may show a weight gain from all that exercising, but eventually you'll lose inches and pounds (in my experience). Don't stop moving and keep drinking that water. You can do this!

          You should definitely not stop excercising, as that is one of the biggest keys on this WOL. You are losing ok. As its already been pointed out, you only have 10lbs to lose in total. If you had over 100 lbs to lose, you would probably have lost 10lbs in the first 2 weeks.

          Its all relative. The smaller you are the slower you will lose.

          I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

            Muscle does not weigh more that fat, it has less mass. thats why you may see the scale move up and be a smaller size..


            Measure, Measure & did I mention Measure. You are fine, you are close to your goal.. the weight will come off..

              thanks again, even if I dont lose the 10 pounds, I think I will go thru the whole atkins experience (for me is like a game, see if I can win, by losing)
              It might sound weird, but I dont think I will stop exercising, for me is like an addiction. I cant leave it, it keeps me happy, very happy. I feel so happy when I finish and take my shower...it feels like I accomplished something

                  I totally agree regarding exercise. I love it, I work out 6 days a week!

                          I think thats totally normal. There is a thread somewhere around here regarding weird dreams and atkins..

                          I myself had a dream that a water bottle chased me down the street..

                            hahahaha really? OMG... hahahaha
                            But seriously I did dream about that and I told my bf and he gave that "you are just getting weirder" look...
                            He said that I have a fixation with Billy, I guess I just like the workouts, I can play that DVD every day.

                              I just think that exercise and getting in shape is really on your mind and in turn manifests itself in your dreams.

                              okay that enough smart talk..it hurts my brain

                              (considering I am at work right now..lol)
