  • Couple more questions about Cocoa Powder and Pork Rinds??

Hey everyone So I went shopping and decided to grab a can of Hershey's Cocoa Powder to mix with some butter and splenda because TOM is around the corner and I'm really craving sweet and salty foods. I am in the 10th day of induction so I was curious if this is safe? It only contains 3 carbs per TBSP and has 1 gram of Dietary Fiber so it's actually 2 carbs and mixed with 2 TBSP butter and 1 packet of Splenda would make it 3 carbs total. If this is safe for me to eat do I count that toward my daily 20 carbs?

While I was at the store I also bought a bag of Pork Rinds because I've been reading some peoples posts and they say it's safe to eat during induction because there are no carbs. They're kind of plain but it will work...

    Thanks,
    Kim

I can't give you any advice on the chocolate, because I just haven't used it that much. I've heard that some people mix it in the cream cheese with splenda. I think I recall that you can have the unsweetened cocoa during induction...you just want to be careful with it. I know I made some concoction during my first two weeks of sf jello and cream cheese and wayyyyyyyyy overate it.

As far as the pork rinds, I haven't eaten them in a couple months, but I did use them during induction with cream cheese dip. They are great with tuna salad...use them instead of your crackers. If you're using them like crackers with tuna salad, you may not overeat on them.

          yep one cup a day
cocoa powder is used as a spice in induction. if you need it for TOM try to make a mixture of 1oz softened butter or cream cheese, one sweetner of choice and 1T cocoa powder. mix it up and divid it into 4 balls freeze them and then allow one to melt as needed for TOM.

Re: Couple more questions about Cocoa Powder and Pork Rinds??

You count everything in your daily limit. However, pork rinds are 0 carbs (as long as you have the plain flavored ones). The reason you want to limit them is because they have alot of salt and could cause you to retain water. Plus, some people will use them like potato chips and sit and eat the whole bag.

Kimberly, I was about to ask the same question. I just had bought some cocoa powder as it is TOM for me too. However, I still have one concern. I thought we are not allowed caffine intake and if I am not mistaken cocoa powder does contain caffine!!!! then again I may be wrong.

2big I followed the recipe you have given for the choch, hope they taste nice. How much Would I be allowed a day then???

chocolate actualy has very little caffeine if you check.

one should be enough just let it mealt in your mouth and your chocolate craving will go away.

I use pork rinds as a bread crumb substitue for alot of old favorite recipes. Like salmon patties and meat balls... omit any other salt, 'cause they have plenty.
