Today I had a crabstick and prawn salad with mayo. I bought this from the sarnie lady who comes round the office. However I thought I would make my own. Does anyone know if FISH or CRAB sticks as they are called here in the UK have any hidden carbs in them? I haven't gone shopping yet so haven't read the label but thought I would just ask to see if anyone knows.

Re: Fish Sticks?
Ok, if this is what you're talking about then YES, its got alot of carbs, click on the link and then to the left pick any one of the products to get the nutritional info, the one I chose has 13 carbs per serving and a serving was only 2 pieces of the leg style ones! That's pretty carby!

Re: Fish Sticks?
I associated fish and crab "sticks" with those that I see in the store--like Vandekamp's or whatever. Those are battered and breaded with a breadcrumb seasoning mix that's loaded with carbs.

Re: Fish Sticks?
That sounds like what we call 'fish fingers'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Fish Sticks?
Lou, the fish sticks you are referring to do have quite a high carb count due to added sugars.
If we are thinking of the same things. Was there no list of ingredients on the side of the package?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replys.
Now I understand what you mean by BREADED, LOL, no not the fish fingers.
I think RICHT has got the ones I mean. They are like pink and white, smooth and about 1inch wide and about 4 inches long.
No RICHT haven't gone shopping yet but will look when I go on Monday. Damn though, thought I had this wol cracked for a minute, lolLOU

If we are thinking of the same things, they are highly processed, and I personally would stay away from them.Originally posted by THIN~BUT~FATI think RICHT has got the ones I mean. They are like pink and white, smooth and about 1inch wide and about 4 inches long.

Re: Fish Sticks?
Yes I think I will. On Friday I had a gorgeous Prawn and Crab Meat mixed with mayo and salad from the sarnie lady who comes around the office. I love prawns anyway and when I worked in the city about 4 years ago I would have an M&S Prawn and mayo sarnie every day.
It's quite funny really because I never once thought about having a prawn and mayo salad until Friday
I think once you find food which you really enjoy and is Atkins friendly then there is no looking back.
The brocoli crustless quiche is back on the menu from Monday too. I can't wait for breakfast on Monday ~ yummy yummy, lolLOU

Re: Fish Sticks?
I buy bags of frozen shrimp/prawn, steam them a little at a time when I want them, and throw together a dipping sauce. I do avocado, garlic, mustard, etc. or so,metimes just clarified butter. You could also make your own cocktail sauce ahead with tomato, horseradish and so on and keep it in the fridge. A great small meal start off or snack.

Re: Fish Sticks?
I've been on a real shrimp kick lately...
I tried glazed prawns a while back at a chinese restaurant, and fell in love
here's a highhh carb recipe http://amanda.dd.com.au/cgi-bin/recipe/view.cgi?1009
but i tried it at home, my own weird version.... breaded with pork rinds, and fried. then, for the glaze I mix mayo with sour cream, hot spice and extra splenda... I love it
it's weird, but i loooove it
