  • Ok I'm Confused

On Page 234 of my copy of DANDR (UK version) on the induction menu it says that I can have 2 crisp breads with 4oz of cottage cheese

I thought both were prohibited, especially from induction!

check the copyright date of your book we use the 2002 DANDR here. the rules changed in 2002 to better help you lose with the least blood sugar craving issues based on the things Dr Atkins observed in his patients. those things used to be induction acceptable.

stick with chapter 11 induction of DANDR and you will be a big loser.

It says Copyright 1992, 1999 2003 by Robert C Atkins.

I must admit I never noticed it in my other two copies of DANDR before. I only bought it 2 weeks ago too.

        Re: Ok I'm Confused

there are a lot of conflicting info in chapter 11 and chapter 18 induction in that DANDR. I look at them like this chapter 11 is the real stuff and if you were real excited about doing Atkins like most of our newbies are they never read beyond chapter 11 until they move to OWL or get stalled out. but for the sceptics who read on there is chapter 18 to lure you in with menues of bars and shakes and it seems to alter the chapter 11 rules somewhat for folk not willing to make a total change t to finixing their ouw low caRB FOODS FROM FRSH STUFF ( oops hate that cap lock key too close to the A key) as a second chance to get somebody to do Atkins sort of. of course those are the folk who have trouble and come here [posting about not losing in induction have 2-3 bars a day shakes and jello everyday too.
Many of the recipes from that chapter also violate induction ruel changes from prior to 2002 almost as if they took the old book added the new stuff didn't edit for the rule changes effecting the recipes like the nuts in the zuchinni muffins. Atkins.com even had the gall to explain it away as a n insignificant amount of nuts in each muffin. LOL I ask them if I could add the same amount of chocklate chips, peanutbutterchips seeds carrots and anything else I wanted since they too would be insignificant amonts in each muffin. Needless to say they had no comeback for that. it was just poor editing and they didn't want to recall the book or give critics any ammo by issuing corrections like DANA CARPENDER did for her 500 low carb recipes when readers questioned the taste of some recipes. she freely admitted there were errors and pposted and mailed sheets with the corrections and the next prionting of the book had the corrections unlike Dr Atkins book.

Congratulations for realising those menus are not induction-legal and questioning them

Another thing to watch out for in the European editions of DANDR is the weights they give for the 3 cups of veggies, which is an error and should be ignored!

As 2big said - if you stick to the allowed foods list in Chapter 11 when planning your menus you will do fine!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I had steamed Broccoli with steamed salmon, which was yummy.

Divide the mixture up into sausage shapes, about 2cm round and about 5cm long and place on a baking tray after covering the baking tray with a fine layer of vegetable oil.
