  • Just joined the gym!

Hi everyone! So tomorrow is my last day of induction and I thought it was time I joined the gym (Fitness USA), I went for the first time today and worked my butt off for 3 hours that's a lot of calories and a whole lot of sweat.. I plan on going 5 days a week for 3 hours per time so I can get both my cardio and weight training in is that too much? I am going to also start water aerobics and step along with all of this

    Thanks,
    Kim

Kim, that's fantastic that you are getting going on your exercise! Weight training and cardio combos will do the trick. The only thing I'd watch out for is that you don't want to overtrain and get burnout. I'd alternate cardio and weight training on alternate days. Adding the exercise and the extra veggies, you'll do JUST fine! You'll probably be able to eat more carbs when exercising, and move through the rungs faster.

3 hrs in the gym, plus step class and water aerobics???? That seems a bit excessive. I am by far trained in the area, but my hubby is educated in Phys. Education. He would less then impressed if I was to work out at that intensity.

Others may have another opinion. But, this is mine. I think it is excessive, and wonder if you will be able to keep up.. Are you working with a trainer , what is their opinion? You are talking 15 hrs, plus the added 1 hr areobic classes on top per week. I would check with a professional before starting such regime.. I think that is wise before starting any new work out, espcially one so intense.

Dont get me wrong, if this ok training plan, more power to you!!!

Best of luck either way, and moderation is always GOOD!!

I think its great that you work out and joined a gym..but my best friend just passed out because she was exercising 3-4 hours a day at the gym..

Just be careful..too much strain can be dangerous

I'd think an hour a day is plenty for just starting out! There's no need to kill yourself! You don't need to start with a marathon, start with a couple miles!!

Hey Thanks for the advice, I just thought the more time I spent there doing cardio and weights I would lose faster. After I was done I felt really great! Maybe I'll take everyone's advice and take it easy tomorrow and do 30 min cardio and 30 weights, but I was thinking about getting into the pool to do a few laps after that because the water will probably feel great after sweatin' it up! I do have a personal trainer and she takes me around to every machine and puts me on for a certain amount of time.
