I have only been on it for one week (this second time) and have already cheated three days!!! I just can't seem to handle not having sweets, it's killing me. Is there no hope or how can I stop cheating???

Re: Please help me get on track!
sorry you are having trouble sticking to this woe. the only thing i can think of to tell you is that you have to decide that you are worth it. you have to take a stand for yourself. that sweet treat that is getting the best of you right now is not worth it. we've all been there, done that! there comes a point in life though that you have to tell yourself that you want to be healthy and happy. you really have to decide that you want to make a change. so that every little temptation that comes your way you won't give in. you have to be stronger than the temptation.
i was on this woe for over a year and lost almost 40 lbs, then i let myself slide for a while. gained more than half of what i lost back. this time around, i am more determined than ever to stick to this wol and not let myself go again.
i really was struggling with starting back up, but when i finally realized that i was worth making myself a better, healthier person, i have stuck to the plan and have been cheat free for over a month.
you just have to really be strong. if you keep induction legal foods with you, when those times come and you are tempted, grab something like veggies instead, or drink a big glass of water. as long as you have something you can eat instead of a sweet, you can resist that temptation. you just have to retrain yourself.
we are all here to lend support. that's what is so great about this forum, we've all been at the place you're at and are willing to lend support whenever it's needed.
i know if i can do it so can you.
feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk.

Re: Please help me get on track!
Cammy you can do it!!! I know it seems hard when all you want is something sweet. I am very new to all this...today is day 10 but, I have to believe that there are substitutes we can use once we get through the induction. So hang in there "K" I thought about taking a low carb wrap (5grams) spreading butter over the top, mixing Splenda with cinnamon and baking it. I'm hoping I can have that for desert on day 15. For those who are more knowledgable, is that legal? Anyhoo, maybe we can get through this with all the support here on the board.Pinkee

It would depend on the ingredients of the 'low carb wrap'.Originally posted by PinkeeI thought about taking a low carb wrap (5grams) spreading butter over the top, mixing Splenda with cinnamon and baking it. From what I read on ADBB I doubt any of them are legal for induction or the day after when you either move to OWL first rung (more veggies) or stay on extended induction.
As with all procesed foods we need to read the label to make sure it has no ingredients that are not allowedd for the stage of Atkins we are on.
So if it has for example wheat flour it would not be 'legal' till you reached the grains rung of OWL.
You could make a 'legal' dessertfrom maybe just eggs with some ground flax (linseed in UK) and baking powder and some splenda and cinnamon instead, or a 'mock danish'.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Please help me get on track!
When you are looking for something sweet, try a mock danish. I could not believe that this would be good, but it really is. Even my 23 year old daughter who gags on most everything said it tasted like the filling from a danish.
1. Soften 2 ounces of cream cheese in the microwave.
2. Add 1 packet of Splenda and some flavoring. (I have raspberry Atkins syrup and use 1 capful -- about 1/2 teaspoon, but I imagine you could use a fruit-flavored extract from the grocery store, although you might need another packet of Splenda with it.) Mix until only small lumps of cream cheese remain.
3. Beat in one egg.
4. Microwave until set.
I've had this the last two mornings for breakfast, and could eat another now, it's that good.June Goals
1. Continue with water
2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
3. Continue with videos.
4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
5. Build stamina for more walking.
Goals for May:
1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
3. Post every day.
4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.

Re: Please help me get on track!
Thank you so much, the support really helps. I guess it just seems like I don't always have time to cook sausage or bacon, and when a sweet treat is just sitting there, it's so much easier. I need to learn to cook and read some recipe's because I only know of a few things to eat and I got bored with them. Sometimes I'm so hungry I hate having to wait to cook something and nothing sounds good. Thanks!215/210/130

Re: Please help me get on track!
hey cammy
induction is a good time to learn to kick old habits, but you might try to work it out with some legal treats
this site has s lot of recipes and ideas, including induction desserts (they have an * next to them)
and if you're a newbie cook, you could try making a quiche... they seem like great starter food to me
i can totally relate to not wanting to cook every time you eat. I mean, I'm a great cook, and a long time atkineer, but if I dont have something premade in my fridge I end up doing all kinds of bad things. so what works for me is having a lot of nuke-able leftovers in my fridge. If i don't Im really asking for trouble
