You will reach your goal. My best advice is to believe in yourself and know that you can do it if you work hard. Anything worth having is worth working for.

Read the book. Drink the WATER (nothing else). Do it clean. Dont be afraid to EAT. Work on breaking the demons and the habits. Take time for you EVERY day. Remember during the rough times why you are putting yourself through this.

Go to Tickerfactory.com and create one there.

My advice is to resolve to do this for 14 days and then see if you are not feeling better, have more energy, and losing weight or inches. Do this by making one meal at a time & planning for the next one. Don't get caught by surprise or unprepared, so temptations are easily battled.

Water and baby steps! Water water water. Baby steps in that you need to take this one meal at a time. One urge at a time. One day at a time. Otherwise it can be overwhelming. Come here early and often. There is soooo much advice here, support, encouragement and as stated a few kicks when necessary.
OHOHOH and plan ahead! Have atkins compatable snacks around BEFORE you need them. Can't remember who said it here, but "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." So very very true. When you are hungry and need something quickly, you need a healthy induction snack at fingers' reach.
            Best of luck!!

still have a few more pounds to go!!

Ronnie114, you look incredible. What great inspiration for those of us who are struggling a little. I'm doing fairly good on the WOE; however, I was recently promoted. I'm very excited about it; however, I travel overnight 3-4 times per week. Can you give me any ideas for the snacks that you mentioned that may be good for travelers?

Thanks so much! You look amazing.

                Re: Best Advice For Induction

Though I'm relatively new to the process, I think Induction is probably the most rewarding part of the diet/lifestyle change experience. The "I'm in ketosis!" revelation, the first five pounds you feel melt away in just DAYS, the 'neat-o' factor that comes with cooking--it's almost like learning how to cook all over again--the increased energy, decreased food cravings, compliments from co-workers, general feeling of being "clean", etc. These are all things I've experienced within the first 11 days of induction. And from what I've read, it only gets better and easier.

Trust me, I'm a real light-weight(no pun intended) when it comes to this whole dieting thing and if it were at all difficult to survive Induction, I'd have dropped it last week. Good luck!

It also helps SO VERY MUCH to have a friend or someone you love do this with you.
In addition to what n0matter mentioned, I've also experienced mood elevation and more energy. It really is a wonderful feeling.

First off, Induction is a minimum of 14 days. That's it: 2 weeks! Don't get suckered into believing that the Induction phase is the only phase of Atkins and that you'll only lose weight during Induction. We have loads of folks in the OWL/Premaintenance Forum that have proven that to be wrong.

Secondly, don't get suckered into believing that the Atkins Diet is sooooooo restrictive you'll never eat fruit or grains again. I'm in OWL and I eat strawberries, apples, oranges, mangoes, oatmeal, popcorn (yes, popcorn), and a whole lot of other not-Induction-but-totally-legal-OWL-foods.

Thirdly, I lose weight slowly by choice. Why? Because I've learned that I have developed alot of bad eating and lifestyle habits. I learned enough about myself to know that if I don't unlearn these bad habits, I'll be back on Atkins losing weight....and lemme tell ya, losing weight is a big pain in the rear end and I never want to put myself through this hassle a second, third or fourth time. Do it right the first time so I don't have to do it again is my motto.

Fourthly, embrace and rejoice every inch and every pound you lose. Don't develop the attitude of "I only lost 15 pounds last month, I'm a failure!" Every inch, every pound lost is 1 inch and 1 pound closer to goal. Everytime you fall off and gain, you are that much further away from your goal. So celebrate your mini-goals by treating yourself to a non-food reward. You can buy yourself something for every 5 or 10 pounds you lose, or start a goal fund by putting a dollar in a jar for every pound you lose.

First of all, thank-you so much!

As for travelling, there are those little cheeses that are covered in red wax. They don't need to be refridgerated (sp?) those are great. If you are up to the nut rung, I find that macadamia nuts are awesome for fending off hunger and boosting energy. Also atkins puts out some very yummy bars that you can sub for a meal. I use these only in emergency cases though cause they taste like a candy bar and we are trying to get away from that sort of food. Bottled water is a must. You can also pack celery sticks and those little tubs of cream cheese. (I think you can find them at costo)
Anyone else have any other ideas for snacks that would travel well?

Beef jerky that isn't cured in sugar=fantastic. Hardboiled eggs are easy enough. I could also see tofu cut into little squares and fried up making a nice snack.

Read the book. Then read it again. Memorize it!

Set mini-goals like Megs suggested. Don't look at the total weight you need to lose; see it as ____ lbs, then you get a reward (NOT FOOD).

Eat your fat and burn it off with rigorous exercise.

What everybody else said. And also, just take one day at at time. When the cravings hit, take a walk or something. They will pass. Oh, and remember to BREATHE!! You'll do great!
