  • Waking Up is Hard to Do

    Literally.

Could anyone give me a good explanation why I'm having such a hard time waking up in the morning now? I've not changed my sleeping patterns and if anything I feel like I'm sleeping deeper. One I am up and about my energy goes back to being great, so why is it such a chore to wake up?

I have that. I think it is because I now get into a deep REM sleep so it's harder to get out of. I think when you sleep lightly it's not that hard, but when it would happen I would be exhausted by 11am. Now, I don't get tired til bedtime, plus I'm not as fuzzy headed.

Re: Waking Up is Hard to Do

During Induction we are cleansing our bodies of those deadly carbs (to us) that turn to sugar. Our body is going through some chemical changes switching to burning stored fat because we are not feeding it any more unnecesary sugar.

So with that in mind, your body is working different now....its WORKING. So sleep might be affected until it equalizes.

        Just my opinion.

Re: Waking Up is Hard to Do

I fancy myself a sleep aficonado, but i have narcolepsy, so i guess that would make me a dysfunctional expert, lol. When you change your diet, physical acitivity, etc. your cycle will go through an adjustment. If you aren't getting enough, it could be a message also. When you change these things, you need more restorative sleep and your brain takes over and gives you just that. if you aren't getting enough, try going to bed ten minutes earlier for a few nights in a row and setting your alarm for the actual time you need to get up. It's a fallacy that getting "ten extra minutes" in the morning will help you feel more rested. You don't get into a deep enough sleep. Take a ten to fifteen minute nap if possible early in the afternoon, no later than 2 to 3 pm. Even 5 minutes reenergizes some people. Try to get the same amount over the same period of time each night. I can't even manage that one, lol. There's no such thing as "making up". Just get it when you need it.

Throw yourself out of bed, wash your face, and drink a tall glass of water. Enjoy your morning!
