why am i out of ketosis

  • why am i out of ketosis

    iv been really good & not cheated at all. but i was feeling a bit low so i had advantage bar for breakfast. then later i wasnt very hungry at dinner so i had a bar instead of a proper meal now i am out of ketosis. i realise it carnt be anything other than these bars but i wanted to know how long it would take for me to get back on track or will i need to start the whole induction again.

    This happened to me as well when I first started..it took me a day to get back in. Chin up!

      I did a quick google for the nutrition information on Advantage bars and the ones I found had 11 net carbs per bar!!! So you might well have gone over your 20 limit just with those 2 bars.

      Remember Dr Atkins told us to get over half of our carbs from our veggies!

      As to 'starting again' - you cant really begin from the beginning once you have started your 14 days, just carry on counting as if you hadnt eaten off-plan.

      Depending on what ingredients were in those bars you might find yourself having cravings for sweet things, so be prepared with lots of 'legal' snacks so you can eat them instead of another of those bars!

        yep skip the bars eat real foods and just keep going. when we aren't hungry we don't wolf dow n a bar either. Dr Atkins is very specific about it. We eat a small protein/fat snack with some of our carbs if it has been 6 hrs since our last feeding.

        Reread your DANDR so you will be ready for the next time.

          yeah... all the low carb products ended making me stall...

            Think about what your body wants to experience when you eat. Your body wants full meals on a regular basis. Your body wants a taste of butter and meat fat so that it has the chemical clues that it isn't being starved. Your body wants a steady supply of fuel that it can readily identify as food. This means, meat, fish, veggies, cheese and eggs.

            The bars cannot meet the bodys requirements.
            They are junk.

            So the next time you aren't hungry, eat a little bit anyway to reasure the body that fuel is still being entered into the tank. Toss manufactured, overprocessed carbage in the round file and eat fresh healthy food.

            Your body will go back into ketosis when it detects you are eating plenty of fresh healthy food again. Could be one day, could be three. Just keep going. And going, and going, and going, and going

              thanks for that guys ,i did have some really bad cravings yesterday for some chocolate , but i never gave into them . back with the program today .
