    Hello to all,

I have read so many inspiring stories here -- good job to everyone.

I will be starting tomorrow (5/22/06) and I'm weighing in at 210 lbs. Yep!

But there's no time like the present - so tomorrow it is.

My goal is to get down to at least 150.

I am not a big water drinker so that will be a challenge for me. I know that not drinking enough water can be a problem.

Another challenge is having to cook for the family and since they are not on the low-carb plan - well they get to eat pasta, macaroni, breads, etc.

But I am determined to succeed. I am tired of being overweight and well my body is tired too.

Thanks for hearing me out and hope to be posting my success story in the near future.

Yay!! Good luck - starting is the hardest part, next week you'll wonder why you didn't start sooner!

Have been on induction for a week now and have lost 7lbs and about 8'' off my various bits, so it doesn't take long before you notice a difference!
Get some ketosticks to motivate you - is very satisfying to see them change colour to show you are burning fat!

Angelstar started today, if you want another induction buddy?

Hi, welcome to the board! Hope your first day went well. The first 3 days are the toughest but you can make it through it. I too had a thing about water when I first started but if you experiment you can find how you like it. Try it room temp, cold or icy cold. I find I can drink more at room temperature so that is the only way I take it.
Good luck on your journey, hope to see you start melting away.

Welcome to the ADBB. Becoming a successful Atkineer means a complete lifestyle change. As carbs aren't good for anyone let alone Atkineers, and all we eat is fresh and healthy food, there is no reason your family can't eat the same things that you do.

Always affirm the positive for yourself. Once you adjust to this lifestyle you will find that cooking for your family is easy, easy, easy.

              Good luck.

I also have to deal with this in my house. I am the mother of three young adults. I began Atkins, they were all teenagers, and you know how they eat! My husband and I are on the plan. My solution was to prepare my meat and salad for my husband and myself, have plenty of sides like deviled eggs, olives, dill pickles, etc. The kids ate those as well.

When it came to PASTA, I prepared only enough for them and began to use Alfredo sauce rather than red sauce. I didn't mix the sauce with the pasta -- much less appealing for me. Using chicken or shrimp instead of beef made the sauce and protein friendly for us, but we just didn't eat the pasta.

For PIZZA, try Pizza in a Bowl - it's yummy. The kids might not miss the crust. Mine tended to throw away the edges anyway. If they do want crust, get one pizza crust from the store, drizzle it with olive oil, parmesan and garlic, and bake it separately. They can load their pizza in a bowl on top of the crust themselves. Here's the recipe.

For MACARONI, follow the suggestions for pasta, making only enough for the non-Atkineers, but keep your sauce to the side. You can use yours over cauliflower and have Mockafoni.

                  Best wishes.
