This is a little unexpected. I've had the worst heartburn and my leg muscles are seriously sore.

Has anyone else experienced these on induction--and do they go away eventually? The heartburn is killing me--reminds me of when I was pregnant!

    Re: heartburn and sore muscles

Your stomach will adjust it's functioning, but the heartburn is likely because it is accustomed to larger portions and used to making more acid. Can you take calcium carbonate? Zantac? If so, go for sugar free, and relieve the symptoms while your stomach adjusts.

The legs - are they just sore, or have you been having leg cramps? If you've added more strenuous leg exercise than you are used to, you could have lactic acid build-up, which should ease after a day or two of not doing that exercise. If it is cramps, you may be able stop them with supplemental electrolytes, in particular, magnesium and potassium.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't started any serious exercising yet--but I am counting shopping with three kids in tow as exercise, lol. I've actually been trying to find a good challenge here--but nothing seems to be jumping out at me. We need a beginners challenge cause there is no way I can pull hundreds of sit-ups, push-ups and stairs, lol.

I haven't gotten any leg cramping (thank goodness)--they are just sore. Like the backs of my legs, if I touch them it feels like I've been exercising them--but I haven't been doing any exercise other than the usual.

My hubby takes prevacid. Maybe I should try one of his pills at night when it's the worst. I never thought about the larger portion thing. You are probably right. hahaha. When I think about all the stuff I used to eat--yikes.

How long have you been on induction?
Also, are you taking supplements, and eating fat, protein and some veggie in every meal?

          Re: heartburn and sore muscles

I started three days ago--am taking a supplement, and am hitting the %'s. (I'm using fitday to help along with that)

I've also dropped a lot of weight in 3 days though. I've gone from 263 to 255 this morning. That's 8 pounds. I have no clue how I managed that--but everyone says that water weight drops faster the larger you are. I suppose that must have something to do with the soreness??

WTG, girl! You've got me on the soreness; maybe you can just chalk it up to a flood of toxins being purged from the fat. I like to use Tiger Balm on my muscles when they're sore. The red kind is strongest. Chinese retailers and some heath stores carry it. Hope it feels better soon.

Tiger Balm huh. I'll have to see if I can find that in the mall here.

Toxins coming out of the fat sounds like a good deal to me--lol. I'll definately take sore muscles to toxins any day. ^.^

I am sure having to cope with your children while shopping is plenty of exercise, Meena!
However many of the challenges do not involve having to do hundreds of anything

The 6 Week Exercise challenge which I recently joined meant committing to do 'some' exercise on however many days you think you can manage, and reporting each day whether you have exercised or had a rest or sick day.

No-one says how much exercise you 'have' to do, as you set your own amount as your goal. So if managing to walk once round the block twice a week is for you a challenge and then you do it - then that is your goal achieved.

Another challenge I joined was the 'stability ball pushup' challenge. Again each participant sets their own goal - I set a goal of 150 for the month but other members are aiming for hundreds or even thousands of pushups a month!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I've seen that one and flipped through the posts and got seriously embarrassed by my own physical out of shapness .

I mean, some people in those threads are up in the thousands! It's a little intimidating if I post that I'll only do like 20 in the month. lol.

I'd love the link to that one you mentioned where you can do a little of some exercise. That could be one I can join in and work my way up to the more advanced threads.

Meena, more water will help on both counts!

This WOE acts kind of like a diuretic, so you can get dehydrated pretty quickly even drinking what you might think is a lot (I'm speaking from experience here). When you keep fluid in your stomach (and you have to be constantly sipping to do this) the acid won't be so bad...and eventually will disappear altogether. The pain in the legs could also be from dehydration. I'll get cramps like you wouldn't believe when I don't get enough water.

That could be some good advice. I'm currently holding my water intake at 64 ounces a day. That seems like a lot to me--just because I wasn't a water drinker before.

I'll try to up the water and see if that helps any. Thanks!

You got the idea... It's been suggested somewhere on the board that you shoul have 88 oz plus 8 oz more for each 20-25 lbs. you want to lose. I'm drinking over 3L/day most days.

And exercise? You start slow & build up at your own pace - I was huffing after 2 stair flights at first; now can run up 6 after 2 months. But could noways even come close yet to 2Big4mysize's 500-some daily ab crunches!

Any practical tips on how to add in more--other than just sticking a hose down my throat. hahaha. I think people will stare at me if I went to the market like that. lol

I keep reusing 2-litre soda bottles. 1 by the bed, 1 in the car, and one beside the sofa. I used to add some unsweetened cool-aid or some lemon juice and artificial sweetener, but now I find water tastes better. And oh, yes, hot water with sea salt and 1/2 a bouillion cube is good, too. I have a 34 oz cooler-cup, a soup mug and a regular mug at work, so all 3 can be going at once for variety.
